Anderson “Devil Anse” Hatfield earned a reputation for being fearless.
The most famous family conflict in American history, the Hatfield-McCoy feud evolved into a mythic American tale of jealousy, rage and revenge - and one which helped create the negative “hillbilly” stereotype that has shaped attitudes towards Appalachia for more than a century. Much more than a tale of two warring families, The Feud is the story of a region and its people forced into sudden change by Eastern capitalists, who transformed Appalachia from an agrarian mountain community into a coal and timber producing workplace owned and run primarily by outside interests.

5th generation direct descendent of this beast of a man. Our side of the family left from pa to settle down in ca during Korea. Its an honor to see all the family signing off in the comments. Its a pleasure to share this rock with yall and its a hell of an honor to say we come from such a savage. I have a picture of him with my great grandmother when she was young in their family house and you can see raw happiness in his eyes while he's surrounded by family

I use to work with 2 ladies, 1 was a Hatfield and the other was a Mccoy. They still have bad blood between and both were from the Appalachian mountain's.
