I know this video came out a while ago but the rigidizer/refractory that's painted on the kaowool is to prevent the fibers from coming loose when the forge is running. This is super important because those fibers are terrible to breathe in. So for anyone watching thinking it may not be important please reconsider and make sure to do this step. No one wants to get cancer especially when its completely avoidable by spending 10 minutes of time to do it correctly.

Great little forges and great burners. Simple, powerful and well made. Can't fault my experience of Devil Forge kit so far... just wish a certain company beginning with V would sort their refractory deliveries out! Just bought another 2 Devil Forge twin burners for a self built forge and foundry 2-in-1 design. 🤞my designs work 😅

Two years ago I bought the single burner version of the forge you have there. I had the same problem trying to hook up the propane/LNG bottle to the forge. The fittings in my forge did not work either. I couldn't find the proper nut so I bought some extension hose for a propane grill and jury rigged the connection. I'm surprised they don't test the fittings before shipment. After the connection problem is solved and the forge is lit, I think it performs very well. I look forward to seeing some projects using the double forge.

The reason it doesn’t fit is because it’s made to fit metric. It’s perfect in Europe, Aus and literally every country that isn’t America.

@6:31 No need to remove scales to measure 300ml water, because it would weigh - 300 gram. The metric system is a system.
@philbarlow86453 жыл бұрын
What does 300ml of say, mercury weigh? 300ml of water would weigh differently at different temps also. The system isn’t as perfect as you’d have yourself believe.

I purchased the rectangular double burner devils forge. I either lost the pressure adjustment screw or it didn't come with one, quick trip to the hardware store and one 10m screw later and I was in business. My only issue was the house coming off the burner kinked right at the fitting so I used a zip tie and kind of zipped it to itself and that got rid of the kink in the hose and the poor gas flow. Other than that it seems to be a nice forge

I have looked at several forges and the one that is real popular right now is less money but there are several things that gave me pause, I like that this one actually has legs underneath it. but I do not like the fact that hose that looks problematic. I really do not like the use of a barb to attach it to the forge, also I would really prefer that there was some kind of way to keep the hose from getting too close to the housing of the forge. I much prefer a steel braided hose. I really like the burners, they are well thought out, all and all it looks like a nice forge.

Other brands include hoses that have finished ends (don't require hose clamps) and the big black twisty tank connector like what is on your gas grill. I'm going with another brand because I don't want to have to hope I get my hose connections good and have to adapt to the regulator. Devil Forge should take note and include a better hose and regulator.

Just a word of caution for new buyers. I am assuming the seller did not tell they buyer to wear a hazmat suit, rubber gloves and a respirator when attempting to coat the ceramic fiber. Ceramic fibers are a cancer causing fiber like asbestos. I would also double coat the fiber so you do not have any holes or exposed fibers. Always practice safety first. I have built a dozen or so gas forges, for friends and customers, using 20lb propane tanks, so I do know a little about it. Happy and safe forging.

Propane bottle valves are 2 way seat valve. Which means you have to open the valve all the way to keep it leaking out the top. Never just crack open the valve, you have a ticking bomb ready to blow

Hello how are you this evening? I have a question. What’s your elevation? I’m about 1800 feet above sea level. Apparently that makes a big difference LOL looking for My first forage. Try and decide of a single burner would be good enough or if I need a double burner or even a triple burner LOL.

Quick tip... if running a gas forge indoors, spend a little on a carbon monoxide detector. Only a few €£$ but wel spent. I've been caught previously and didn't realise anything was wrong until I went outside and a colleague asked what was wrong. Apparently I was wobbly as hell. Forge safe folks 👍

Nice forge. Does it work alright with one burner? I plan to buy or make one like this. Thanks
@hesperhurt3 жыл бұрын
1 or 2 burners work fine depending on the size if workpiece/task. Only suggestion based on experience of all gas forges with multiple burners... make a refractory brick plug to take up any unwanted space. Speeds up heating, saves gas and any unnecessary burn on the refractory in the unused section. 👍
@schuylergrace5 жыл бұрын
I don't know a thing about non-U.S. fittings, but since that's a regular thread, not a pipe thread, I'm guessing it's metric. After all, you got a metric size on the hex part of the nut.
