I think he's talking about a lot of different ideas and making them into a cohesive narrative. Some of the lyrics are a little too ambiguous to make reliable heads or tails of so I'll stick to a few ideas I feel comfortable explaining my perspective on. 1. Life is short regardless of how many years we actually get to live - "We'll all die young." 2. Since we're all going to die young, - "What you care do die for?" could be a subtle question to thoughts of suicide or not caring about if you die. 3. He questions if people who are thought of as "bad" are actually THAT bad if they still have genuine moments of humanity. - "Is the devil so bad if he cries in his sleep while the earth turns cause his kids learned to say fuck you, they don't love you." As well as: "Is the devil so bad if she dies in her sleep while the earth burns. She cries cause she's nothing like you... Is she.. like you?" 4. To go along with the end of #3. "Is she like you?" - Seems like a loaded question/almost a statement. If someone bad can be so insecure & sad that they're not like you that they cry are they bad? & If you've ever felt the same way & also cried like her don't you have something in common? Aren't you more alike than you think because of your humanity & shared feelings?

Hanna Drewniak I guess they wrote this while being on an epic comedown because it is literally a lyrical puzzle. But you get the feeling that it is mainly about a messy breakup where one of the parties (possibly he) appears to be more of a culprit (‘devil’) and the other (possibly she) is ‘nothing like him’. And all else in between are probably real-life snapshots of significant memories that only they can make sense of in their true form but we can all relate to in a small way - ‘snow glistens on the ledge’, ‘his kids learnt to say fuck you’ etc. However, I may be completely off the mark here!

I was thinking that it is kind of about how if someone seems corrupted, most of the time they are just broken. And idk but I was also thinking in the line "she cries because she's nothing like you, is she like you?" Is about a significant other, or really just anyone in general, that is trying to help them but they feel like they don't deserve them because they are so broken and dark and the person is so wholesome and self sacrificing.
