DMC1 was one of the hardest games I ever played as a teen, but I never understood game techniques like comboing, canceling, spacing, timing etc. Now I can enjoy playing games that used to seem impossible to master. Due to just not knowing, I remember this game coming out on PS2 before jump equals s. I ended up beating this on Normal mode after grinding for all the moves in a Bonus Mission. I'll go back to this game now.

Hey, fantastic content actually. Really nice and comprehensive breakdown of some fun techniques. Stuff like that is always appreciated for DMC. Thouuughhh.. One thing I would still contest is calling it "Jump Cancelling" in DMC1. From DMC3 onward enemy step is like an actual cancel which lets you interrupt any animation no matter whether it's windup, active frames or recovery, but in DMC1 the way the shotgun hike works or how you can stay in midair infinitely by spamming E&I while jumping every once in a while is simply acchievable because those moves have very little recovery. You don't exactly cancel anything. Otherwise JCing High Time (on the way up), Helm Breaker or the Divekick should all be possible, but that only works later on in the series. Idk, I just always considered the terminology people use for that in 1 a little flawed. In any case great stuff, hope I didn't come off as too rude lol

DMC2 really isn't necessarily because even on the Must Die difficulty you can still beat it just by abusing firearms (except Lucia's underwater boss, but that's the worst designed anything ever)

I’m a touch surprised I discovered slash canceling, shotgun twitch and the grenade cancels on my own. Shotgun cancel was by accident and grenade roll was because obviously wanting to dodge an attack after firing. I actually discovered the slash cancel when fighting Nelo Angelo on DMD just on the basis that I needed to find way to squeeze any extra damage on him as possible. Shotgun hiking sounds hilarious and vortex cancelling sounds swaggy. Found out about gun charge and then immediately forgot in my first playthrough when kiting Phantom and getting him stuck on the terrain, while also taunting for free DT. Nostalgia hit me hard there lmao

Huh. Slash cancelling is so damn easy to do and the inputs come out naturally in my gameplay that I _wasn't aware I was cancelling the final animation_ when I was a kid. I wouldn't exactly call it 'advanced tech,' hell, I'm halfway convinced it was intentional, like shorthopping and fast-falling in Smash.

Another way you can cancel Dante's flight is by tapping the lock on button. Tapping the lock on button midair toggles air raid, and works as a form of cancel.

Though not useful in combat, the stinger move is used to catapult Dante off certain ledges to cut down on distance travelled in some areas and some wall hiking requirement. Two good examples are just after the 3rd Phantom fight to get the trident, and at the broken bridge while standing on the arch over the doorway (the catapult will land you on a piece of the broken bridge)

Most of these techniques i already knew a LONG time ago. Hell, i did them in my DMC1 steam a few months. However i'm not really good at explaining key details. Also given how fast information flows and the fact that ANYTHING can be found online at this point, i assumed many players already knew this or discovered these techniques for themselves. Either way, this video is very well done, and if anything this can be a refresher for those who need them. 👍

Lock on used in call of duty if you never play any shooting games. It why people by accident use the knive. People first shooter was Socom. Plus a dvd player. That alone push them ahead of everything despite Sega. Basically made them more kid friendly than n64!

Actually, it does, though it isn't very well documented due to being... well, DMC 2. I recommend watching Javelina Devil's videos to see what you can do when not only using guns. Some practical techniques out of the top of my mind are jump-canceling sword slashes but not leaving the ground to gain i-frames, Dante's stinger-to-air-raid canceling, and Lucia's infinite rapid kicks.

I don’t think either method is “better”, I just think it depends on what you find easier to execute. I personally feel like the delay you need to do with the shoot method makes it a bit awkward to use, but that might be because I learned the analog method first.

This could honestly be another video in and of itself, but basically, it comes down to three factors: how many red orbs you collect, how fast you beat the mission, and how much damage you take. I believe the last two factors are most important, but the game is a little lenient depending on how much of each factor you satisfy. For example, getting the "No damage" modifier at the end of a mission would definitely allow you to slack on time and red orbs a little. This leniency of course, is dependent on the difficulty you're playing on. The higher the difficulty, the more of each category you'd have to satisfy

Hace unas semanas le di una oportunidad a DMC, empeze por Devil May Cry 1. Ok, me gusto mucho el juego, fue una experiencia intensa y si que me dio un desafio, ademas de su musica de jefes es uffff 🔥🔥🔥 Eso fue lo que me gusto, pero lo que no me gusto fue que... Me pase el juego en las 3 dificultades.....3 Odio que no me dejen acceder al modo dificil desde el principio, haciendo pasar el juego una vez para desbloquearlo. Aunque casi siempre vale la pena, puedo soportarlo, pero....pasarlo 2 veces para desbloquear el dificil? No fue un compromiso lindo, se sintio mas como una carga que como algo que me dieran ganar de superar. Pero lo que si no me gusto para nada fue la camara, un asco total, el juego demanda rapidez y que te coloque en un angulo donde no puedes ver nada y te mate algo que no ves, es horrible. Fuera de eso, no quita que Devil May Cry 1 es un juego.... extremo.

I just bought all the games. I bought 5 before the rest but I wasn't taking to the combos so I figured an older, simpler installment would be better. Best I've gotten so far in DMC1 is Amazing. Devil Hunter ranking also an A. I plan on trying to actually complete the hardest modes of each game. Or at least Dante Must Die on each one. These tips will most certainly be helpful in achieving that goal. Worst part is I beat Knight Man in Mission 4 without dying. Took 6 tries with Phantom, but I did it, then did it again start of level 4 no deaths. But those damn Shadows. My god. 1v1 is doable, but tough. 1v3? Screw that Secret Mission. I'm gonna replay Mission 4. Died an embarrassing amount of times, about 3 times to Shadows & once to a Marionette that ambushed me, which made me broke when trying to replace my lost Orbs. Nice tips video. Will hopefully serve me well.

You can also Helm Breaker Phantom's back. Or if you're feeling real spicy, hit his fireball back at him with a sword slash. Shadows have a neat insta-kill trick. If you time a jump so you land on their spike attack, you can just shoot them with the pistols and they instantly go into their red phase and die shortly after. Makes the fights much easier.

As soon as you focus an enemy with your shotgun, you can hold the shoot button while hitting and enemy with basic attacks to charge it and then release it to do masive damage up close
