I mean, DMC 5 has a lot of callbacks to the original DMC: Shadow, Griffon, Nightmare, the whole corrupted Vergil/Nelo Angelo premise, the Proto Angelo, the Nobodies, the Sin Scissors, and the SDT Dante moves. Pretty cool that Judgement is taken from Sparda in the DMC 1 intro, almost like Dante is paying homage to his father.

I know I'm over analyzing, but my brain forces me sometimes. So, Judgement is a spell? If it was just attacks there is no chance Dante would be able to imitate his father just because. But if it was a spell then that would make more sense, because there is only one way of doing it or one specific motion to perform to complete it. I know it's just a call back, but still I must.
@vergilthedarkslayer85932 жыл бұрын
Why would it need to be a spell? Dante knows his father's swordsman down to its core. Some materials even state he surpasses him in skill and novels even support it. He is probably imitating his father's sword kata/combo he must have learned from him. Or he just replicated out of void exactly as it is just cuz its dmc and martial feats like that are pretty bread and butter for skilled individuals like Dante.
@smithcubs2 жыл бұрын
@@vergilthedarkslayer8593 he was a child when his father closed the door. How would he literally know his exact moves? Surpassing someone doesn't mean you literally know their exact movement, just generally you are superior.

@@smithcubs Him and his brother were mentored by Sparda in swordsmanship tho, ~~before he went to buy milk and never came back~~. Not to mention they both have faught innumerable enemies which have been inbuilt with Sparda's skills and swordsmanship and have also faught people who have actively used supernatural means to carbon copy Sparda's skills via means of Clairvoyance. Angelo's(ex Gilver) in former case or Chen in latter. This all comes from novels so its not widely known. Dismissing above avenues....its just one of those crazy quirks of feats displayed by DMC characters which defies logic.

@@vergilthedarkslayer8593 OK, so answer me this. Why has Dante not used this move until now? He has never used judgement before, until he took whatever power was from Sparda's sword iirc.
@vergilthedarkslayer85932 жыл бұрын
@@smithcubs EZ.. Game design choices. Just because Dante has x,y,z etc abilities/skills doesn't mean they are going to display everything in his repertoire in a single iteration. Its not an optimal games design. I can give any number of reasons for these choices like nostalgia and callback references to moveset segregation and saving money and effort by using same combination etc. Honestly there's nothing that special about Judgement besides a spiffy looking sword combo, time slow effect and an explosion at end with some special properties.

DMC 1 is a great game on its own, but compared to other DMC games it's 6/10 imo There's a lotta good about it, but also many bad things about the gameplay like no lock-on, the fact that it's fixed camera, etc

@@sebastiancintron29 agree DMC being extremely short helps a lot in its replayability, tho it has a lot of flaws Stuff like fixed camera makes some fights ( Griffon 3!! ) Extremely annoying, enemies like Kylokops and Blades throwing rocks and blood at you off-screen because you can't manually adjust the camera No lock-on hurts against griffon 2 and Nobody because your unintentionally target its eyes and in griffon 2 you target the stupid flying shit with him, also it makes fighting enemies like Marionettes pain There's barely any objectives to do and when there are they are extremely short, like mission 13 can be beaten in 2 mins Funny how people complain about DMC 4 enemies being annoying to beat and bosses being repetitive even tho DMC 1 does the same thing but much worse Bael is basically an upgraded and harder version of Phantom because he has more attacks and unlike phantom doesn't have a cheese strat Echidna is easier than Griffon however she's actually well designed to beat well, Griffon 3 on DMD is massive pain to fight because of fixed camera fucking up your vision and him having attacks that last SO FUCKING LONG ( his orb split attack can last more than 10 times ) Credo is much fun and better designed than Nelo Angelo because Other than his spear throw that you can catch only with Nero, there's no other way to " cheese " him, meanwhile Nelo Angelo 1 and 2 you can use the ultra broken Bangle of time to get 17 Secs of stopped time, you have slash cancelling against him, you have the grenade launcher which is good against him when he opens himself up when he prepares to throw his energy ball at you, his combos are also very easy to dodge and the first one ( when he raises his sword ) opens him up to slash cancelling, you can also easily taunt him for DT much safer because he's not as aggressive as Credo

The sword moves that Dante does are similar to what Sparda does, so I reckon it's a callback. Of course, since it's Dante, he adds his own spin to it. It's same way he did when he had Yamato, he doesn't copy all of Vergil's moveset.
