Rewatching this cutscene before their final fight really hits different when you've grown up. Dante has changed and is desperately trying to knock some sense into his brother, but Vergil just won't listen, since he's too obsessed with gaining power. That's actually sad, I feel like Dante really didn't want to fight him once again and cared a lot about Vergil but he was just too blind at this period of time. :(

Here's a layer on top of that: this fight's boss music is the only boss music in the game that doesn't have some hype drum beat meant to make you excited. It's 100% about the fear and drama. I believe it was an intentional decision meant to reinforce that this fight is the only one in the game that Dante does NOT want to fight. @ethanf3095 Жыл бұрын
It might be a stretch, but I believe that a sort of meta-perspective on this is that Dante and Vergil represent aspects of the human mind. For Vergil, the power to protect his loved ones and never feel the pain of losing his mother again is similar to something that we all feel intensely at some traumatic point in our lives. He’s willing to go to nearly any lengths to achieve the strength he needs to never suffer such tragedy again and achieve his dreams of reaching his ultimate power. When people go through horrible events in their lives, the immature response is to harden and strengthen in some way or another to keep it from happening ever again. Though this is usually done through very unhealthy and harmful ways that result in hurting oneself and the people they care about most. Dante is pained by his past and what Vergil is trying to do, but he ultimately loves his brother and all of humanity. Rather than seethe and drown in his pain, he embraces it and learns to accept his duty and mission beyond it. Deep down, he despises evil and is worried about being consumed by it himself, doing his utmost to use his powers to protect not just him but humanity. This reflects an acceptance of oneself and their pains as well as recognizing their potential and duty beyond it. In this way, Dante defeating Vergil is the natural course of events. After first experiencing our deepest pains and regrets, we naturally crave power beyond our means to destroy the weakness we see in ourselves and become strong enough to never be hurt again. But that strength ultimately lies is learning to accept pain and suffering as a natural course of life. It comes from learning that becoming so strong that you can’t be pained or feel pain means losing one’s capability to love and be loved. You end up losing your humanity, the strongest power we all have. In the same way that Dante defeats Vergil, all happy and content people learn to accept their misfortunes and learn from them to be better people. To have a better sense of justice and to know when there is an evil that has to be destroyed within or without. To accept what one has and to cherish and protect what they love while they are still alive to do so. A beautiful game with a beautiful and meaningful commentary on the nature of the human soul.

There is no way in Hell I could beat DMC3 on Dante Must Die mode. It blows my mind how some people can actually do that. I mean the skills you must have to possess to do that kind of thing boggles my mind.

If you release the attack button at the right time drive will come out instantly but the window is extremely small so it best to try and practice with turbo off

I FINALLY started playing DMC5. Even though I completely spoiled it for myself, had doubts, and was still trying to get over the fact that DMC5 was actually real and I’m watching someone ACTUALLY play it. Gameplay wise, it’s like revisiting an old friend. Except for V I fucking hate him. Like if you thought Nero was bad? Then you have no idea, I have no problem with him as a character. But that would lead to spoilers, it’s just from a gameplay standpoint. I REALLY don’t see myself wanting to play him and trying to get better. Cause it’s just not as satisfying. Cause at least with Nero or Dante the same gameplay is there. Nero is a more simplified version of Dante, but still complex enough to have fun with. But once you finally play DMC5 and think about it from a story standpoint and when you think about how redundant V is. It just feels like they are cleaning up what they left behind with 4. Which isn’t as interesting as cleaning up after one of the worst sequels ever, and in the process make a genre pioneer that is the hack and slash genre. DMC3 is perfect and kinda amazing when you have the context behind it all. Like imagine you knew nothing about DMC, played the first one and went straight to the second one. You’d probably think this series went downhill. But then you go straight into 3 and suddenly drops this badass intro into your lap. “The end? Don’t bet on it”. And then once you get to THIS final fight that’s when from a story standpoint and on a certain level the first game, that DMC for me is just classic. Especially the music. 0:21 And I kinda wish we had more serious moments cause they kinda hit harder when your game is always just cracking a smile and having fun most of the time. And if you’ve finished DMC5 you know they probably could’ve done better. Which is kinda really shitty to say cause they clearly had fun making it, but what I’m trying to get at is they could’ve passed the epic threshold. To the point where DMC can honestly shit on modern day triple AAA gaming in a heartbeat. It has the means to do so.

DMC5 fulfilled all expectations. How could you think the story is disappointing? But I do have to say them not releasing Vergil, or even Turbo Mode in the base game since they had six years after DMC to do so is nothing but nonsensical greed. Why have many always disliked Nero?? But I do have to agree with not liking V only gameplay wise.

I probably took 16-17 tried to finish thi fight. Lvl2 royalguard, a single bar of health and a devil trigger with just 4 orbs. Nabbed vergil everytime he went for a judgement cut volley.

A decade ago, they became separate, after their father disappeared for no damn reason, leading to their mother’s death. Here, they are reunited thanks to a lunatic who manipulated them, including his own daughter, just to go after their father’s powers, which kills him, leading the two to fight over their father’s powers, which ended with the oldest falling into the underworld. Almost a decade later, the two are reunited, thanks to the Demon King who turn the oldest into a mindless Knight, which forced the youngest to kill him, just to avenge their mother’s death, with help from a girl who was created to look like their mother. Another decade later, the youngest learns about a nephew he was unaware of, leading the two to team up against an order that went too far, which puts innocent people at risk. 6 years later, the oldest is revealed to be alive, by taking back the sword his son was holding onto, just to separate his human side to become a powerful Demon to finish what he & his brother started, which ended with his two half’s coming back together, leading to a clash between father & son, where the son surpass his deadbeat father & uncle, leaving him in charge, while they stay in the underworld to make sure nothing godlike escapes. Years from now, they’re still stuck in the underworld, until they meet a girl who is revealed to be their granddaughter, making her the first female to be related to their old man.
