I have to admit, I love that moment when Dante and Vergil are completely blindsided when their long-running rivalry is interrupted at its climax by Nero like a bolt of lightning interrupts a bare-fisted brawl, flatly telling them that he's had enough of their stupid bullshit and that he'll beat the crap out of anyone who disagrees. Dante takes the hint, but Vergil takes a bit more convincing. After all these years of being the second-fiddle to Dante and Vergil, Nero comes and asserts that he most definitely on their level now.

You can literally see the exact moment Dante stops being the main character of the series and it's when Nero bitch-slaps the fucking Bejesus out of him. Dante didn't pass the torch. Nero yanked it out of his hands and then beat his father with it.
