This was actually a very nice ending. Dante and Vergil were seemingly already settled on the idea that one of them would subsequently kill the other, so it takes Nero as the reasonable 3rd generation to literally beat some sense into his father and uncle and stop them from bringing this family drama to a bitter and probably regretable end. It is especially a nice touch that Nero does so with the same ideology that Vergil follows - get as powerful as possible to protect the people you love - but without sacrificing his humanity for it.

From mine I believe Dante got stronger because he is more human than Demon which allowed him unlock his full demon side with severing his human side and bc Sparda and Rebellion merging probably worked as a vessel and catalyst for Dante's Sin DT Vergil gained a complete demonic power by removing his human side and upon eating the apple gained all the power he needed but upon regaining his human side(V) who became even more human than before combining wit Urizen and being Vergil again he also gained more control and power while Nero gained a power the power of purpose and with tht his full potential has been unlocked

@D. Robinson This game is supposed to mark the end of the Sons of Sparda story. The brothers may or may not be stuck in the Demon world, since they can leave together with Vergil's Yamato opening portals. However, I think for the stories sake, both Dante and Vergil will stay in the demon world slaying demons together to try and keep the human world safe from now on. Nero is now the protector of the human world, hence why Dante says "we're trusting you to take care of things on this side". Nero has awakened his devil trigger so he has the power but he also isn't alone. He has Nico helping him with new tech, and Lady and Trish are there as well. If there is a DMC 6, the story will most likely revolve around Nero and potentially Dante's kid. It is kind of implied in a conversation between Dante and Vergil that Dante may have his own kid as well. Dante says the phrase "I guess you were young once as well, hehe" which is in reference to Vergil at some point settling with someone to conceive Nero. This could point to Dante having also "settled down" with someone. Lady even mentions herself, "Can I have this office? I'm thinking I should settle down somewhere." It could be Dante settled with Lady and she needs a place for their kid to grow up. Anyways, It would be really interesting if Dante's kid grows up to be more like Vergil, just like Nero grew up to be more like Dante. It would mean in a sense that the Sons of Sparda story still lives on within their children.

So out of every time I've watched this cutscene, over and over, I've realised something that nobody else has seemed to point out. When Nero is talking to Vergil around 3:20 onwards, he says "Dantes not gonna die here, and neither are you. You got a problem with that?" and during that time the camera cuts back to Vergil, who has a plain, simple reaction, retaining his signature frown/straight face. But a subtle little detail they put in his reaction is that Vergil nods slightly, which I personally believe is, through the humanity he's gained, the respect for Nero from that sentence alone coming through. Regardless of how bitter he can be, Nero is still Vergil's son, and Vergil acknowledges that now, albeit he's very reserved about it, and hence why he doesn't speak of it to Dante.

I kind of want Dante and the two ladies to reunite eventually though. It's not really shipping. I just think they have good chemistry and as funny as it is for Dante and Vergil to fight it out in hell for a long time, I find it more depressing if they never see each other again. And while I get it's in Dante's character to be disinterested in Patty's birthday party, I do kind of feel like a final goodbye to her would have been nice because I know he does care. However, I think it's implied they'll come back eventually since Vergil did say he'd come back and fight Nero once more. On a sidenote, the idea that Dante was going to stay in Hell was something I've heard last year though, even thought it was done in DMC2.

this has me thinking, can't they just get out when they feel like it? I mean they still have yamato, and the Dante sword is supposedly Rebellion + Sparda, so they have 1 or 2 plot devices that were once used to open up portals from hell. Sure, I'm overlooking a lot of details but since DMC 2 is still canon to where Dante returned without both said devil arms... Conclusion: Dante really just didn't wanna show up to that party

Just for the record for those that keep saying that Nero's Devil Trigger, though impressive, is on par with Dante's and Vergil's Sin Forms are wrong. The only reason he pushed them back was because they reverted to their human forms and they were also exhausted from their fight. Its the same with how Arkham back in DMC3 was able to whip both their asses after their earlier fight. Its ridiculous that some people came to this conclusion.

Nero’s devil trigger is powerful and on par if not stronger than both Vergil and Dante’s base DT forms what sets Nero apart from the two is his abilities he’s a much better swordsman than Dante but doesn’t have the same level of sheer strength that dante has and while not as fast or as skilled in swordplay as Vergil, Nero is able to quickly adapt to fight stronger enemies but if dante and Vergil hasn’t just got done dukeing it out before Nero fought Vergil, Nero would have been obliterated
