I just want to point out that as this song was playing, in the scene, Nero gets some encouragement from the woman he loves, Kyrie (means "divine" in Latin), sees that she's right, then proceeds to walks up a flight of stairs that seems to never end. Not even halfway up, he finds his resolve (transformation) and shoots to the top of the Qliphoth. Even the stairs had a symbolic meaning in this scene. They didn't seem to end and it looked like he'd never reach the top. Then he just flies up there faster than both Dante and Vergil can see. Him shooting to the top has two significances: a literal and a metaphorical. The literal: Dante and Vergil are both fast enough to destroy every rain within a 6-foot (2 meter) radius while fighting each other (DMC 3) and Nero still stopped them. The metaphorical: Vergil is Nero's actual father and Dante is a father figure to Nero. These brothers are titans of power who believed there was only one way to end this rivalry, one must die. Suddenly, Nero comes in between them faster than even they can see (see literal significance above) and resolves the situation in a way they both thought was impossible. In other words, to his dads, Nero "grew up" so fast. Nero is Dante and Vergil's legacy.

This is one of the most symbolic and impactful game in the entire Devil May Cry series. Hearing this song, you can feel the loss and pain of the Sparda family. Nero being unable to protect Credo, Dante losing his mother, and Vergil's obsession for power so that he may never again feel the pain of losing what is precious to him, and believing that Eva loves Dante more than him. But through their turmoil, they were able to gain new power that reflects their growth and desire to protect. Devil May Cry 5 is by far the greatest game in the DMC universe.

Dante didn't just lost his parents, but also his brother for a few times and was basically forced to kill him every time they meet since the family tragedy. They both lost everything, had no one and is most likely to be hated and looked down by rest of the human society. Both couldn't fit in either world, one's only good at slicing demons and is quite isolated from the rest the world; one is so obsessed with power driven by the strong desire to survive at a young age and literally had to live through hell. Dante might got some friends but just remember he'd rather sit in an office alone with no electricity, gas or water than seek for their help/company. Good thing is while he has a depressing backstory, he's also a lighthearted cheesy Wacky Woohoo Pizza Man and the bros are (at least for now) back together again (and got a son/nephew to take care of too?).

Kyrie saw very little 'screentime' in DMC5, for sure. But, her contribution was still pretty significant. It's telling that Nero's heart was still conflicted and full of doubts.... right up until he had the chance to unburden himself to Kyrie, and hear her say that she believed in him. Cliched? Perhaps.... But, it's one of those things where the cliche is true. Sometimes, what you really need more than anything else, is to know that the people you love are right there with you, supporting you, and believing in you. Clearly, that's what gave Nero the strength to steel his will and become the new hero of Earth in this case.
@johnbuscher4 жыл бұрын
I think someone said that it's Kyrie that makes the difference between Nero and Vergil, otherwise they would have turned out the same way. If Vergil had his family still around him and hadn't closed his heart off, he'd probably be more like Nero while Dante would still be goofy Dante. Vergil even wonders if they would have swapped places, had Vergil been the one Eva was able to reach in the attack on the mansion. Honestly, the moral of DMC is: All it takes is a little compassion and you can really transform someone's life.

Kyrie is such an underrated character, the amount of importance she has to Nero is literally character defining. 1:43 Nero has ascended, the chorus sings in his name due to his truly noble and divine choice making him a human become god. I think the wings are a metaphor for that. 2:20 on fowards is an absolute masterpiece 2:47 gave me chills. Knowing how powerful Vergil is, pretty much the king of the underworld he says "you came all this way, just for that". You stop for a moment to question your weakness and how there's no stopping such a strong demon with far more experience and is probrably right about treating an inferior weakling like you. But it's as if Nero breathes in, faces his fear and embraces his choice, to face his father. He just has faith in his willingness to stand up for himself and protect what he believes. 3:18 was another shock of chills down my spine. Because right when the chords hit down, it's exactly when Dante lifts his face up to Nero for the first time, as if questioning his own integrity. Someone as powerful and unstoppable as Dante, actually questions his own perception of Nero, someone now proven far higher than mere mortals simply by his willingness to stand up to practical gods, the two most powerful beings on Earth. Risks everything he has to prove to his family who looked down on him what he's made of. He is mature. The metaphor for Nero getting his normal arm back and unlocking his DT seems like it's pointing to the fact that Nero isn't Vergil, his sword isn't the yamato, he also isn't Dante, he isn't Credo. But he's the entity that has lived through all of it, he is his own self, different in his own way, his own unique choices, he's the individual. And this is him enforcing to the world everything he is.

Spoilers ahead for DMCV (As well as a BIG post.) for anyone who haven't played it. Dante, Nero and Vergill definitely did struggle through a lot. Vergil especially but here's my interpretation on why Dante and Nero managed to get the power he sought for way quicker before he did despite all he'd been through. Not to downplay Vergil but to explain my reasoning for why that may be the case. The way I see it is Dante and Nero both did something Vergil did not. Embrace both sides of who they are. Dante's journey in DMC3 was one of accepting his demonic side as he had already accepted his human side. This to me signifies why Dante surpassed Sparda by the end of DMC1. It's why Agnus got completely destroyed by Dante because he rejected his humanity, in a way if Credo survived he could have been a powerful foe because he never rejected his humanity (And can be a reasoning as to why he looks the most angelic out of anyone in the order. After all, a demon is a fallen angel typically. Sparda awakening to justice could be seen as him rising again as an 'angel') Nero's journey was very much the same in 4. It was his journey of accepting the Devil Buster he was given and embracing that he could be a demon. Which is why he was able to do a Snatch the size of The Savior's face to crush it. He accepted who he was and that came to ahead in 5 after finally discovering who his family was subsequently discovering why he had demonic powers. He fully embraced it all so he could save his family, granting him his true Devil Form. In fact with DMCV explaining that human blood can empower Demons, to have that pumping through you 24/7. It's very likely one day Nero could surpass Dante and Vergil with 3/4 of him being human, so long as he has that drop of demon blood in him. Vergil on the other hand constantly rejected his human half in DMC3. He was powerful sure but he failed to understand what it meant to be a Sparda. It wasn't being all powerful, it was awakening to justice and showing true humanity. Something Dante did over the course of DMC3, DMC3 was his version of Sparda awakening to humanity, hence the sub title "Dante's Awakening". Vergil even went as far as to split his human half away, in a sense even with the Demon Fruit, He de-powered himself. V realizing just what a mistake all he did was. When they rejoin, you notice that Vergil does things that DMC3 Vergil would NEVER do. He thanked Nero for helping him, He gave Dante time to recover so they can fight again, He wondered if things would be the same even if they switched places, he agreed that if he beat Nero, he beat Dante by default. He openly and willingly accepted to cut the Qliphoth. DMC3 Vergil would *_NEVER_* do this. I think seeing the determination of his son to keep his family alive, that act of humanity was the final nail in the coffin for Vergil to realize that the power would have been his all along had he accepted his human half. If we ever get a DMC6 I'd imagine that might have a point where Vergil's Yamato becomes Legendary Devil Sword Vergil. As Legendary Devil Sword Dante was when Dante reached his peak form and the way Vergil gets it is through true acceptance of his human half. Sorry for the long post but I think this might provide some clarity on why it took Vergil so long :)

as I said, I'm from a different universe entirely, but I lost an entire realm to an evil tyrant known as Shao Kahn, but I had to make a heartbreaking decision: Let him take over Earthrealm or sacrifice myself to protect it, and I did exactly that even though I wouldn't live to see it. But losing a whole realm is like losing your family and loved ones. I did what I thought was right to prevent any invasions from Outworld. I hope you succeed, Nero.

I want another DMC Anime but staring Nero over Dante. Taking place after DMC5. Dante and V’ can be in it too but they wouldn’t be the focus because of their situation. Nero, Nico, Lady, Trish, Patty, and Morison would make a good cast and Nero is a flawed enough character which makes him perfect for a protagonist role.

I like to think this song is Sparda talking to Nero. He feels weak and incapable of protecting what he holds dear to himself, especially after losing his demon arm, but Sparda reassures him, telling him not to question himself, and saying "You are not alone". And the "there's no mountain too tall to overcome" reffers to Nero stopping Dante and Vergil's rivalry. "You will rise again" literally, Nero grows a pair of wings, and metaphorically, Nero rises back to his old power, and even above it. "This is your legacy".

Vergil wants to gain more power, so he can't lose anything else that is precious for him. Nero wants to gain more power in order to protect Kyrie which is almost similar to Vergil. (DMC4) Truly a "like father like son" moment in the game. Edit: Noticing the wings on Nero's shoulders look like arms that maybe represent Sparda's, supporting his grandson, knowing how Nero has a similar vision of him in the past... *...but to also beat the shit out of his sons because he can't do it anymore.*
