I was 3 years old when RE2 dropped in 1998 I watched my dad play it and I would get so scared I would be crying in bed thinking I was gonna be eaten by zombies. Dad felt so bad he would only play it when I went to bed to help me avoid getting nightmares. One night in the bedroom my window lock failed and slammed the window down to the sill and scared the ever living fuck out of me, I sprint downstairs to find my dad and he’s in the living room at 2am smoking a J and playing DMC. He let me stay up but was like “is this game gonna give you nightmares like resident evil?” And I couldn’t say “no” but watching Dante kick the shit out of those demons with infinite ammo was wayyyy less scary than Leon Kennedy being eaten alive. Dante, made me confront being scared. I love Devil May Cry forever and ever.

There was something about the first game. It had more atmosphere than the rest of them cus of the castle and when it turns to night time crossing that bridge back to the castle when I was a kid was stressful 😂
