That last variation, from @07:20 - mindblowing! And what a revenge after a missed note in the previous run. Great stuff! (Although this piece doesn't work as great with piano as with band, IMO)

Does anybody know why he takes his top lip off the mouthpiece to take a big breath? Usually I see people just remove bottom lip or sometimes corners for a smaller breath. Does it maybe have to do with alleviating the constant pressure on the top lip. That's something I have an issue with especially when playing in higher registers. Just trying to broaden my understanding, Thanks :)

everyone has a different set up, as long as it feels comfortable and you have a good sound that all that matters

iirc from one of his workshops I attended, it's because he 'anchors' his mouthpiece on his bottom lip. So to prevent the position of his embouchure and mouthpiece moving around too much, he only takes off his top lip from the mouthpiece when taking a breath.

@@TheJH1015 that would make the most sense, I doubt it's a bad habit considering this guy is one of the best there is
