This was confusing to me in a way. The devil betrayed God, I thought the devil was a prisoner in Hell, not an instrument for God to use. People also say that God will destroy the devil and put him in Hell at the end of time.

I have heard Exorcists say that God sometimes humiliates the devil by using him to bring people closer to God through increased holiness. But it all depends on whether we are strong enough to deny the temptation.
