Hey Mark from Nevada here, no doubt the old timers were hard core there shit ass deep in the bush with super monster snakes and such. ALL THE BEST!
@qldabandonedmines2 ай бұрын
G'day Mark! Indeed those old miners were unlike current generations. We were up there for a day and only hiked in. Mining that rock in the summer months would be close to torture. No doubt they had a cool off in the gorge afterwards if it held water. Thanks for tuning in ledge. Eb.

@@Mark_The_Magnificent Thanks Mark. The day itself was not too bad. High 20°C. But as we hit that gorge, oh boy. Some of the little puddles had some alien fungi growing in them as those little pools were probably 45°C! Thanks for watching, commenting and supporting the channel as you always do ♥️ I know you're going to love the episode we drop on December 16th. It's pretty wild! The green colouration in the hand-sample at 26:36 likely attributed to argillic alteration of chlorite and epidote commonly observed in low-sulphidation epithermal deposits such as Cracow. Furthermore, Olivine is a mafic mineral that is not associated with granitoid melts; it is also highly susceptible to weathering and remobilisation due to the solubility of Mg and Fe at surface.
@qldabandonedmines2 ай бұрын
@@den_t5661 Nice. Cheers bud. We were not exploring in the Cracow beds, quite a way South East. Not sure on the low sulphudation though. The ore was very much bonded with sulphur. We had to roast it at over 600°C to burn off the sulphides. I had to wait for my neighbours to go out so the smoke didn't gass them 😂 Not much AU recovered. It was less than 2gpt from a small sample of 1.2kg of ore from the dump site. I can't imagine processing this ore was easy for any of the generations that had a shot at it. Thanks for tuning in mate Eb.

Great video. I've been there many times over the years so was great to see it on your channel. Whenever I've been there the mines are full of water so would love to know what's down there.
@qldabandonedmines2 ай бұрын
Cheers mate. The older workings would be the late 1800s, and I think the more recent workings were the 1930s. We can see in the research we did that in the 1930s they built a treatment plant up there. I think all they did in that era was mined a halo around that shaft to create that void now resembling the open stope. We found the mill site in the 30s by following the trail of battery sands. Not much volume of that, so possibly it wasn't very successful. That stope would have had a network of platforms and ladders that sadly all got burnt in the 1980s. It would have been an amazing site to still see that. I plan to go back and hike to the Southern workings next winter. It will be an overnighter with ample snake safety gear! Thanks for watching mate Eb.

There are some diggings on our property, 2 of which are on the app with recorded gold findings. I have walked a fair bit of the property and there are quartz veins that go well into the hill/rock. There were gold mines in this region, but I don't have the equipment or money for the equipment, nor the healthiest of backs to try and get into it. Would be nice to actually get together with someone who is knowledgeable in this field and not just looking to find a million dollar nugget!

@@jasonthompson5324 Cheers mate. Definitely not geologists. Just a bit has been absorbed after years of exploring mines and researching the associated reports on them. I will be pursuing a Geoscience course part-time soon though, as it fascinates me. Thanks for tuning in mate! 🦘🦘⛏️⛏️ Ebenezer. QAM.
