The Animal31 Being a hard hitter definitely helps, but forcing a fumble depends on the ball carrier for the most part. If that player has terrible ball security then a fumble can be forced by stripping or an average tackle can knock a ball loose. At LSU Tyran Mathieu had 11 forced fumbles. Nobody was calling him a hard hitter because of that. He was really good at stripping the ball from ball carriers. Watch Reuben Foster or DJ Calhoun. Those are actual hard hitters
