As a former pro athlete and a NSCA strength trainer, I will say Again, boxers need to be doing SPORT SPECIFIC training ONLY.....(they already do road road) You cannot cheap your way through this process thinking it will work. What this "trainer" is having Devin and the other boxers doing is very generic stuff that will add ZERO value to their ATP and ANAROPIC system. They need to develop power, speed and explosion and be able to maintain that and this type of workout will not create these goals.....Hate to say.....Sorry! Boxers need to stay away from those dumbbell pushups or (Russian pushup) because they are bad on the rotator cuff and put tremendous strain on the lower spine and thus causes pinch nerve. Also, you do not do bench press everyday so why do you do sit us everyday especially when you just killed your ab walls the day before....they need to heal and recover for 24 hours....Stability would would be better. Go spend the money and hire a professional certified (NSCA) trainer so your son can reap the benefits in the years to come.... Also, I cannot stand when the trainer is sitting his ass down while I am killing myself working out...Get your ass up and ensure my form and execution is correct throughout the exercise... Good luck and you still have time to get the right things in place...
@ldmaze5174 жыл бұрын
Well, i will agree with a few things that you said, I never trained to boxed before but i have ran track and have coached Track & field for a long time, The weights were light but we didn't have any of our kids lifting any weights in High School. And you are right, you must allow your muscle to recover. So he may need a National Strength and Conditioning Coach. Because i never trained to be a boxer or have i done a lot of boxing so I can't answer those question you mention about technique. But everything else looked fine because he is a very young man and there was nothing i seen that he was doing that was very strenuous. This look like a light workout. Also the trainer, I don't think he is going to give away all of his routine because he gets paid for what he does. I'm sure you wouldn't give any free tips as well over a video. Something to think about.
@livefit89364 жыл бұрын
To his credit, about half of the exercises he was doing was sport specific, explosive movement thru the shoulders while on a split stance. As far as the abs go, they trying to build hardness and endurance so it's ok to do it everyday. You gonna tell Mayweather he shouldnt do Abs everyday which he does(1,300 reps), I dont think so!

Only notable dude he fought was Gamboa but he's old. Haney's good though. I don't think is even necessary training imo. Even if he full-repped everything i don't think it'd make that much of a difference in his overall explosiveness. He needs to train that with some mitts, on a bag, or in sparring imo. Weight-related training for explosiveness seems pretty pointless at his weight.
