You can always tell who won a fight and who didn't by their body language after the 12th. Loma was smiling with him trainers while Haney looked concerned and nervous. That said, I've watched this fight multiple times now. When I watched it live I had Loma winning 9-3. No joke. I thought he won it pretty handedly when I first watched it live. I then watched it a second time and that time I had it a bit closer with Loma winning it 8-4. I just now watched it for a third time, but this time I watched it on mute, and my conclusion was still the same; Loma won, but after this rewatch I had it 7-5 Loma. So I went from thinking it wasn't really close with Haney only winning three rounds the first, live viewing to thinking Haney won 5 rds after watching it a third time with no sound. I think Haney had the cleaner fight of the two. Loma threw more volume, but a lot of those punches didn't land or didn't land clean. But it seemed as if Loma was the more powerful of the two(even with Haney being the bigger guy) so his shots were snapping Haney's head back. Take those more exciting, occasionally landed power shots and combine it with the volume I can see why a lot of people think Loma was robbed. I originally thought that as well and I still think he won, but now, I don't think it was the highway robbery a lot of people claim it was. Like I said, Haney was the cleaner figher. He was more efficient and he was loading up on the body shots so they weren't having the same reactions from the crowd. And Haney also didn't have the lasting power of Loma's shots so even when Haney landed flush head shots Loma did a better job of absorbing them so they didn't look as impactful. So 7-5 Loma and he should have collected the belts, but it was closer than a lot of people think it was. I wish boxing was like the old days and we'd get more rematches or trilogies. Where are the Pacquiao vs Marquez type wars? Or Pacquiao vs Barrera or Pacquiao vs Morales? Or Gatti vs Ward? Or Sugar Ray vs Duran or Sugar Ray vs Hearns? The boxing world would appreciate it. This is why I think Floyd was a detriment to the sport. As good as Floyd was, he rarely(if ever) fought anyone more than once and he was very strategic about who and when he'd fight certain dudes and you're seeing a lot of these younger cats follow the same blueprint. I miss the days of when boxers were warriors and would fight anyone, anytime.

This was a certified instant classic. It’s just too bad people let their emotions to a close fight overshadow just how amazing the fight actually was. That being said, after watching the fight back I believe Devin won fair and square. Once you analyze the fight and score it round by round, ignore the crowd noise, credit the body work, and the fact that most of the flurries Loma threw were blocked… Dev got it. However it was still a close fight. Credit to both men for putting on sharp performances

I analyzed the fight and Devin did not win neither did Loma though. Devin did well rounds 1-7 pulling about 4-5 of those rounds but completely let the second half of the fight slip through his fingers. He clearly won round 12 which honestly is what saved him… I promise you if Loma goes out there and won round 12 the result would have been different. Good job to both fighters though

💯 i thought loma won after the first watch... I’ve watched it over 6x because it was so bang bang I saw something new everytime… Crazy how the commentary can influence your view on a fight, but also speaks too how good of a fight this actually was in real time.. This will go down as a technical chess match that people will look back on and give it’s just due.. in due time.. this was boxing in its purest form. i had Haney 7-5, after MANY re watches… but I would have been okay with a tie honestly based off the way it looked on face value. People will discredit this victory but i think this loma was rested, motivated ( being able too grab all the belts at once) and well seasoned. This fight will help haney in the future because of the adversity he faced.

And each & every time, I came up with the exact same scoring as Oscar De La Hoya, who was sitting there ringside: 8 rds to 4, with Loma being the clear winner. Short of a knock out, the corrupt powers that be weren't about to let ALL 4 WORLD TITLES go overseas to a white Christian man residing in the Ukraine. Bob Arum and everyone sitting around him were shocked & dismayed that Loma wasn't given the rightful win. It's so funny how after a while has passed since all the initial commotion and calling it a robbery, people finally open their eyes and realize how and why Haney won. Loma undoubtedly had the better moments, especially in rounds 10 and 11. But Haney was always able to come back and land shots of his own. Especially the body work that was consistent throughout the entire fight. Another thing is that in many of Loma's bursts of punches, he misses the majority of those punches. But the crowd goes wild anyway. Crowd reactions blind people. But with all that being said, it was a close and entertaining fight, and the better man won. Hats off to both fighters for their great performances that night.

Haney employed the Ugas vs Pac strategy and folks weren't nuanced enough to see its effectiveness. Loma was befuddled because he knew everytime he would try his spin offense he was gonna get a body shot to the exposed portion of his torso. That is why he was less offensive and the ring generalship was in Haney's favor. They were fighting the fight Haney wanted not Loma. That's how I seen it live and rewatching it again.

11th round is where Lomachenko's age most factored. He hurt Devin during the first 1/3 of the round, then lacked the youth stamina to keep putting it on the rest of the 2/3 of that round. I think 3 years ago, Lomachenko would have stopped Haney in that 11th round. I don't see any controversy - Haney won a close fight; and I think he will be a better fighter because of the experience he gained in this fight against such an experienced opponent. I think the timing of this fight for Haney was spot-on with Lomachenko at 35. And you have got to give respect and accolades to a 35-year-old Lomachenko in this fight too. He's fighting one weight class too heavy for him, stubbornly, because he wants to be undisputed there, and took multiple heavy body shots from a younger, bigger fighter. But Lomachenko has ran out of youth.

Also at the time Mayweather fought Canelo, Mayweather was a true bonafide welterweight. Lomachenko is a 130 fighter, stubbornly fighting at 135 because he wants to be undisputed at that weight, which he will not achieve.

Countless times while scoring fights over the years, I had MY chosen fighter losing, with my own scoring. BUT NOT THIS ONE. I have already watched this fight 4 times very carefully, and made a new score card each time, to critique my own scoring, and every time, I had Loma winning 8 rds to 4.......just like Oscar did. Lastly, boxing of this caliber is a hell of a lot harder than it looks. Loma did everything he needed to do to win this fight in convincing fashion. He even had Haney in serious trouble in the 10th and 11th rds. ​@@jose.jojo.pino.jr. I think it's a two part problem. 1. Once his opponent adjust to his increased pressure, it's not as effective and they're back to fighting on neutral ground. 2. His age might make it tougher to keep up that activity level. Sure, he may have a skill advantage against most of these younger fighters due to his age and experience, but his stamina may not be suited for holding up that kind of footwork and activity level that long especially if his opponent has landed effective body shots throughout the fight like Teofimo and Haney, to a lesser extent, did.

This was a high level chess match, both Men have World Class Skill. Having watched it a number of times, I have the same Result as when I watched it live, Loma worked Haney over. Haney really struggled to land any significant blows aside from those early body shots. Loma was really brilliant throughout this fight and landed the cleaner blows. Close, but 7-5 Loma.

See, that’s the way I had it also just watching it for the first time. If I swung one of those other close rounds for Loma, he still would’ve lost. Close rounds don’t mean you win them, it just means you did better. You also have to remember that was a very pro Loma crowd, so they’re going to see things how they see them with their favorite fighter.

This was not a robbery. I watched this fight with no volume. The crowd got hyped every time Loma did something but they ignored all haney body shots. Haney won the first 6 rounds and 12. That’s 7-5 Haney. And it was also a couple swing rounds in those mid rounds. I heard the commentators calling Loma shots and ignoring Haney counter shots before. No volume round by round haney won clean in a great fight. Not to even mention he is the champion and you have to take the belt from the champion. Loma didn’t do enough. If he woulda won the 12th then I could see a draw or Loma for the win but he gave that to Haney after having a good round in 11. Loma has to blame himself. He needed that 12th round

Haney did Alright, Loma might’ve Had a lot of shots come in, but without the Power Strong enough to Knock Haney Down, those Flurries of Combinations won’t be Impressive to Everyone in the Crowd. Loma Did well Pushing Haney to the Ropes a number of Times, and Haney did well at Making Loma’s Spin Maneuver Almost Useless. Haney had Good Grounding, and Even though Loma had good Slips and Great Speed, he Did NOT Have good Grounding… Not enough to even Give Haney a Noticeable Blow/Knockback. Haney did well at Keeping Loma’s Inside Game away by his Strong Jabs and Uppercuts, so good for him. Realistically I do believe Haney Truly did Deserve the Win for Showing little Damage Taken and Having His Strong Defense Stance up at Most Times… Loma was just Too Flimsy looking, might’ve Out-done himself on this one, It Really Takes Us to Slow Down the Video to Actually See Loma’s Shots… but Tbh we shouldn’t have to. If Haney Ate those Combinations, then Loma wasn’t doing enough, Loma Needs more Power for this Occasion.

It just sounds like people don’t like Haney, just because…but pertaining to the fighting, haney was more consistent with his pressure and throwing that right hand to the body, even after loma would land his left hand , and throw those flurry of punches at times…i feel like loma had moments but wasn’t as consistent as haney was throughout the fight…definitely a close one but they got the right decision, no robbery…close fight, props to both fighters
