great reaction Jim! This is such a grower. Dev has the astounding talent whereby it doesnt seem to matter how intricate & "difficult" his music can be or conversely how seeming simple & melodic it is..... either way it somehow touches something deeply inside my soul. His entire back catalogue (and more recently each album in itself) is like the perfect sound track to life... with all of its beauty, pain, anger, joy & fear. Beeeyutiful track!

Devin's always had his fair share of accessible songs even on some very inaccessible albums. Him making a full album out of them doesn't really surprise or bother me especially when they're as enjoyable as these last two songs have been.

Dev mentioned in an interview a few weeks back that his last couple of releases had essentially purged the chaos that had been building inside the past couple of years, and he wanted "Lightwork" to be more simple, straightforward, hopeful. These first two songs seem to fit the bill. This song in particular is one he's been working on for awhile - it's popped up in less-finished forms on a lot of the impromptu stuff he's been doing during the pandemic. EDIT: Look up "QUARANTINE PROJECT 8: Call of the Void" here on YT for one of those previous versions.

Haven't heard a newer song that moved me this much in quite a few years. Last one for me was Ulver "Echo Chambers" and that was like 5 years ago. I've been a Dev fan since the 90s but this song is really something else. I feel like calling an old friend or climbing a mountain or something. lolz. So damn good

I really like both this and Moonpeople - I can use chill and uplifting right about now. (Lunatic Soul is also on heavy rotation.) In this one the delayed beat on the chorus about 3/4 through is great. I hope you’re doing well. Oh, Mike Mills/Toehider recently dropped a new track that’s 47:47. :) I haven’t made it all the way through yet due to my own schedule, but it’s fun so far.

Did you get your pre-order in yet? What version(s) are you getting? I grabbed the white vinyl, contemplated the 3LP box set and may regret not getting it later, we shall see. Devin related note, I grabbed Eras II to get the ever so important to me trio of Synchestra, Terria, and Ocean Machine. Infinity is great and growing on me and Phsysicist sounds way better on vinyl than Spotify!

Respectfully disagree. This doesn't come across as watering down your sound for profit, this comes across as Devin doing whatever he feels artistically inclined to do. Just my two cents, especially considering that his last 2 projects were The Puzzle (and Snuggles) and Empath and that he's explored similar sounds in the past.

It does have a very clean, Top 40 sound to it. Pretty repetitive. It's good, but I prefer his harder hitting stuff, in my limited Devin experience.

I'm not freaking out Jim with this song....which is unfortunate....love Ocean Machine: Biomech ....but I struggle with rest of discography heard so far....there is a over riding bland but lush side to his sonics that is evidently all pervasive in his current mode of operandi...nice on occasion but dare I say predictable.....maybe I need pointers to his more experimental records.🧐...check out Bjorks latest video Ancestress to be thrilled!!🙏

It's ok ...like the song with 'recycled' as chorus....need to listen to that one more....but Ocean still gets the full album plays from me of course...the scream at the end always catches me out but the whole flow of album is kinetic!....that final screech stuck in the end tho....soooo loud...will checkout Deconstruction 👍👍👍
