I loved watching Samus play Gene's parts with Devin, but Gene has an extra something. His snare attack and groove. He just has it, and Samus is insanely skilled but he lacks that extra something. Gene sounds tight and loose at the same time. He's incredible.

This was great however Gene's footwork is the star of this song, and either the capture or just the mix and recording didn't capture them well. Everyone do yourself a favour and search gene Hoglan skeksis. He does a drum demo and holy hell you could make an argument that he's better than Thomas Haake and Danny Carey combined, atleast for that song.

I saw this beast of a drummer on the Overactive Imagination tour in 1993 in San Francisco, CA. He was much larger physically than he is now. He was playing a Pearl custom Z kit with square size toms. It was an 8 piece if I remember with Paiste cymbals. The accuracy that he played Sean Reinert's parts was simply breathtaking. And his own from the album. An incredible drummer!
