Devin Townsend The Moth Demos

During one of his twitch streams, Devin Townsend previewed some demos and Art pieces for the Musical he's been working on. This Metal Opera is called The Moth. If this preview is anything to go by, it is sure to be Devin Townsend's most ambitious work to date. Personally speaking, it sounds unbelievably epic, even by Devin Townsend standards.

He has been teasing The Moth for so many years, its nice to hear something from it, but man I just wish he would finally release it.

He's had righters block (on how to finish the Moth at least), largely as a result of the Pandemic. He says it will be out around 2025. On another note, he's recently announced on twitter. "I’ve been writing something that I’ve been waiting much of my life to do, and setting up a green screen studio for it as well..." Could it be something new, maybe it's just a live show...hell is could be Ziltoid 3... or maybe It's...The Moth.

If he cancels this project I'm going to be so, so upset. Every idea is interesting. The Opera type kitsch is there but it works because the music is honest about it and it's experimental (and well written) enough to make it interesting. Hey Dev, if you're out there reading - THE MOTH. VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD.

OMG great to see someone else loving that one. It's probably my favorite album of Waltari. I often find similarities with Devy there, like Deconstruction and stuff. And Waltari is one of my favorite prog/strange/fun metal bands

Does anyone know what Devin uses for his orchestra sounds? Or-beyond that-does anyone have any suggestions for good orchestral VSTs? All the stock ones in Logic kind of stink

I know uses the BBC spitfire libraries, there's the high end paid ones but they have a free one which is pretty good, you don't get that much articulation with it but the sounds are good and easy to use :)
