::: About This Episode :::
Here's we go with Episode 2 of the Scott's Bass Lessons Podcast!
This week I sit down with Nik West - bass player, vocalist and songwriter with credits that include artists such as Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Prince, John Mayer, Glee and American Idol.
She's been on the cover of Bass Musician Magazine and has also been featured in Bass Player, Bass Quarterly Germany, and Bass Magazine Japan.
In this episode we discuss her past, how she found the bass, why she nearly gave up for good - right through to moving to LA, hanging out with the likes of Andrew Gouché and getting the call from Prince.
In this Episode You're Going to Learn:
How Nik found the bass, and started her journey to becoming a bass player.
Why she stopped playing (luckily for us she started again!)
Why you should "play the groove until it's in you"
What it was like getting the call from Prince... in the middle of the night!

Always amazed me how Prince could speak to musicians about their playing as if he practiced on their instrument everyday. I've heard these stories about how he could talk to world class players about their shit on their level.

What he did so often is calling to be a smartass. Trying to show the others are smaller than him. Putting them in the corner. I have problems with those personalities. I dont work for those. Nothing against some good songs of him tho.

@@THX-vp9fz Hmm, shall I believe the many stories of other great famous musicians or the delusional statement of a fucking nobody like you? Naah, I stick with the greats and their fond memories of Prince, like Billy Gibbons for instance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqLRnWCFad-Mi5Y ... Thx for the laugh though! :-P

Man, you did a great job. She is def. an artist and Prince is def a genius. I like how we know what P is generally talking about yet it's something else all together when you are actually in a moment with him - at least that what I am assuming because Maceo, Monte Moir, Jesse, and other world class musicians always frame great stories of playing with Prince and they all knew their craft coming-in.
