How you attack the note makes a huge difference in feel, absolutely. This guy is clearly a master of tone and groove.
@Nikosi94 жыл бұрын
So true. And notice that he plucks down near the end of the fingerboard. The closer to the bridge the less "round" is the attack. Notice that Jaco plays almost over the bridge pickup which makes the notes "pop" in a staccato manner. I've seen so many video's of electric bass players demoing upright basses, or even fretless basses, playing in the middle of the fretboard. The notes all blend into each other...

Haha! Don't worry mate, It will take you ALL those years again to master it. It's not an electric. It's a different instrument all together, and the another life to master the bow! But GO FOR IT regardless. It's way more satisfying than an electric. yes, I am a double bass player. This is good stuff.
@legopachycephalosaurus68253 жыл бұрын
The Double bass is honestly great, I’ve only played for around 5 years and I haven’t tried much jazz or funk but so far even classical is just absolutely amazing. It’s a really great instrument that can be used in so many types of bands and groups. The sound is beautiful, pizz and bowed are different but equally great for their own purposes.
