I'm surprised there is no compressor! when you get good enough, are you so good at controlling dynamics with your fingers that you don't need one?

I'm sure I think I'm better than I actually am, but I feel like my sound is almost exactly as I intend it every time I play a note. Compressors are necessary for a studio track, or maybe if you claim you aren't getting enough sustain, but my one self written sludge song runs at 72 bpm and I have enough natural sustain to handle even that.

i would say for recording yes, for gigs, home practice, or band practice no. gotta develop that feel during practice and shows. but the recording engineer will appreciate a properly set compressor (they should already have one for you) especially if you're a sloppier player. and yes, if you're an experienced and practiced player, probably don't NEED one.

This overall design is not really for me but I'd rather see some innovative designs than stick with the same old one's... Some love this look when they came out in the early to mid 70s & though I wouldn't buy one built like this I understand whether the Luthier is coming from... I always call these designs the Sperm Whale design as the top & bottom horns always remind me of the side view face of a sperm whale... Fodera have been using this look for quite some time (predominately on 5 & 6 string) so I guess there's a market out there for this specific look as I can't fault Fodera's sound & build quality... I guess its " Each To Their Own " A personal favourite of mine is the Alembic design as it's ergonomically built to aid playing farther up the neck & I just love their designs as they aren't the generic typical Fender style look... That's not having a go at Leo as I own a few built in USA basses but I do like a change to the look of an electric bass gutar every now & then... .....

Not really my cup of tea. This seems very focused on effects to use while soloing, which I rarely do. I enjoy a distortion pedal (aguilar Agro is perfect for my needs), a chorus, a flanger, and eventually a compressor. Would like a reverb though from time to time, and maybe an octave pedal (i sold my aguilar octamizer though). And yeah, an eq pedal is also great to have every once in a while. 😊

Depends on whether or not you’re playing bass with a band, and the “type” of band, if you’re playing with one. If you’re playing alone and primarily posting things on social media, then overplay until your heart’s content. There’s nothing wrong with it. And honestly, most guitarists are just as guilty of “overplaying”, even when they’re skill level doesn’t cater to it. Plus, if you’re playing with a sub octave, it’s best to stay up around the tenth fret

One of the troubles i've found with a distortion/overdrive is it...sorta removes the "WHOMP' factor, if you will. It flattens out response somehow, so that the bass doesn't 'punch' like it should; especially with distortion-heavy guitarists in the band and lots of crash-work from the drummer. Just my experience.

you know, if you have a POG, you could make the POG sound less static and irritating by going into a Aguilar Filter Twin from there. i would get a Filter Twin First, actually, then a POG to give the filter some more frequencies to work with. like you could tone down the POG, with the filter twin, in a way you couldn't tone down the POG with the controls on the POG.

it sounded like the Pog was a nice jazz solo octave pedal, and the Octaver was a synth/edm style octave pedal. i get why you'd want both. they sound way different, and they influenced his playing to be completely different as well. for a session or fill in bassist, it makes sense to snag both. for someone playing one dedicated style of music, not so much. I needed something with some fuzz that didn't lower my bass levels/get me lost in the mix, both with light fuzz and heavy fuzz. I picked up the Don't Shred on Me from Abominable Electronics and it's one of the best I've ever used. It's a more dial-inable version of The Rat. I use it for any and all styles. Rock, blues, heavy metal... damn, its a monster. It's a guitar pedal I believe, but I can't make a guitar sound good using it to save my life.

Have you tried ehx bass big muff? It has a knob to let your dry signal go through together woth the fuzz tone/ wet signal. Or if not, anything with EQ, or maybe just a preamp, that should save you from getting lost in the mix. Fuzz sounds best with high trebles also but for the bass to come UP the mix, the mids should be upped as well.

Go the Alpha Omicron recently. By far the best distortion pedal I've used!

I wish that I picked up a basic guitar a long time ago but I just picked it up three months ago ! I am blind and I am picking this up like I was born for this ! Would’ve loved to been able to interior contest with any of this
