This is my favourite movie of all time, partly because I'm Scottish, I have seen this movie well over 20 times and probably watched close to 50 reactions to it. Based very loosely on William Wallace, the guardian and high protector of Scotland. Even though not everything, as people would say, hardly anything is based on truth, this is a phenomenal movie.

Don't listen to any of the critics. Braveheart remains one of the greatest, most timeless and powerful epic dramas ever made. The performances are wonderful. The soundtrack is some of the best, most heartwrenching music ever composed for a motion picture. RIP James Horner. The cinematography, art direction and set design is STUNNING. Mel Gibson knocked it out of the park with this epic masterpiece. He totally deserved to win Best Director and Braveheart totally deserved to win Best Picture.

@BlitzkriegStaffords only because the other reaction he did before either didn’t do well or was copyright blocked. This is 100% a redo. He even slips up at the one part where he’s doing the “theyll never take our freedom” part. Its so hype he accidentally says it before it happens due to his excitement. This isn’t the first time he’s done this. However, i honestly think his reactions get better the more he watches the same movie or show. I wish he would finish breaking bad but he keeps stopping cause not enough views.

Hi Devin ~ So glad you are watching this great movie. I have a large amount of Scottish ancestry in my family and am so proud of being a Scot. I come from Clan Mackenzie. Chief Ian MacKenzie led 500 MacKenzies in the Battle of Bannockburn where we defeated the English. This was the battle after the killing of Wallace. You know Vikings were tough people but us Scots back centuries ago were even tougher and crazier. Vikings were warned to not take their longboats near the shores of Scotland because they knew how we were, we were fierce fighters and didn't have any fear!

The executioner covers their face because they are one of the people in the village. Usually it was the blacksmith or a woodcutter, someone who was practiced in swinging an ax. If your father was executed and you knew the executioner was Bob, the blacksmith, you might come for revenge. That is why they wear a hood.

Hi, thanks for the Braveheart reaction. Despite this film have dozens on historical inaccuracies it’s still one of my favourite films ever made and as a Scottish woman born and bred this movie makes me so proud to be Scottish . There was a Real William Wallace he did exist and he did become high protector of Scotland. He was really executed like that. Hung, Drawn and Quartered, Beheaded then torn to pieces. A part of his body was sent to Scotland as a warning but it did not have the reaction the English nobles were hoping for. There is the Wallace Monument in Stirling, Scotland that you can climb to the top of if you like millions of stairs. It holds the Real William Wallace’s broadsword which stands at 5ft 7ins tall. His sword is the same height as i am. There are also statues of Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn. Been to both places i don’t stay to far away from Stirling by car. The Stirling Bridge battle worked because the English were cut of by the Scots on both sides of the bridge but in the movie there isn’t a bridge just a battle. The french princess was only 5 years old when William Wallace was around not a grown women like in the film and the real William Wallace’s wife was killed like that. I love this movie and i hope you do too. Take care and happy holidays. 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Alba Gu Braith - Gaelic for Scotland is great 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

just try to remember, this is an adaptation, not historically accurate. wallace was about 6'5" tall. there can't be a battle of sterling bridge without the bridge. the french princess in question (isabella, portrayed by sophie marceau) was about 14-15 years old when all this was happening. robert the bruce's father was not a leper. there's more. its just a movie. the real story is equally as good, in its own way.

10:49 Truly messed up. Back in these days the husband and wife probably knew each other all their lives. She probably saved herself for him. Then the noble invokes Prima Nocta just plain sick. Also yes this is exactly why they took their weapons. So the common folk can’t fight back. Whenever someone starts talking disarming law abiding citizens I give it a side eye.

Holding off on the spears until the cavalry was so close, was known as waiting for them to commit. Once the lance is lowered, the kick the horse to make it run at max speed. at that point, training takes over and teh horse will not stop until directed to do so. Hence, why you wait, as hefting the lance requires immense focus and concentration to do effectively, preventing you from breaking off the charge. In short, waiting as long as Wallace did, ensured teh death of the heavy cavalry.
