All of our hearts go out to Captain Kate. Everyone knows that Bug was like a second right arm to her. Anyone who's loved and lost a pet who is truly a family member knows that comfort doesn't come quickly. The hurt lasts. But the hurt is needed. It quantifies the deep love we shared for our beloved pet. My wife and I have paired male German Shepherd's for over 30 years now. We've never been cat people. About a year ago after a bad storm and cleaning up in our backyard, we stumbled upon a kitten about a month old. He obviously got separated from his Mother and siblings. Theres no way he would have survived especially with us having an in ground pool with two skimmers. Needlesss to say, Enzo has been enjoying life in our home for the past year and a half. He believes he owns the place and allows us to live here which we suppose is fine as he's an incredible loving friend to us both. We don't know how we ever lived without him. Oh, and Genco and Santino, our two German Shepherds, love him and he feels the same about them! Our hearts go out to Captain Kate. May she find comfort in her memories of her beloved 'Bug Naked' 💔

I feel for Capt Kate. I lost my Coco last year at 2.5 years old. Sphinx have a longer lifespan. It's possible to lose a pet during a procedure where anesthesia is involved. I hope she'll find a new furry or fur-less kitty when she goes back to sea. She gave Bug a great life and new friends each cruise. He was well loved and spoiled beyond belief. I know what she's feeling to lose a cat so suddenly.

I just lost my 10 year old Catahoula. I'm sorry for Captain Kate's loss. I was on Celebrity Beyond in September and saw Captain Kate around the ship. not only is she a great captain, but she's beautiful, friendly and funny. I hope she finds comfort in the fact that she gave her cat the best life.

Don, I repaired electric wheelchairs and scooters for many years, including Wal Mart etc. Never did I find the wheelchair to be the problem, it was the operator, mostly a panicking older person. If they let go of the controls, the chair stops. But they hold them or get them hung on cloths, purses, and shopping bags. Happens quite often. Don, I once had to climb 30 feet up a tree to get an 80 year old man out of a new electric wheelchair, he was hanging upside down by the seat belt! It never failed to amaze me what people are capable of doing. Raven (Want to know how the wheelchair got in the top of the tree, just ask.)

I have my own personal electric wheelchair. What he says is very true. The chances are it was operator error and not a malfunction of the wheelchair. It’s very easy for something to get hooked on the joystick and the user to panic.

@ Thank you for backing me up. She could have also been using a rental chair and not been familiar with operating it. Most often PANIC is the problem. It is very easy to become overwhelmed when in an out of control electric wheelchair or scooter. Raven

@@ravenopenheart2649 Also, if there is an incline, electric wheelchairs will turn downward toward the decline and she could have panicked instead of turning off the power. Usually scooters are rented, so if it was an electric wheelchair, my guess is that she owns it.

Being in a wheelchair is a struggle for each and every person who must use them. My customers would always tell me, “Don’t sit down” “The day you park your ass in that recliner, you park it in a wheelchair.’ Those are wise words and I always respected them. Raven

very devastating news about Bug everyone loved Bug and to have such a comfort animal while away from home for her was I am sure for her made her job much more enjoyable. Losing a pet is one of the most difficult things in life, we are leaving for a 15 night Panama Canal cruise in Feb and are leaving our almost 21 year old cat home with a very loving cat sitter, we hope he will be there to great us when we get home but you never know. Thanks for sharing

I have an electric wheelchair and they need regular maintenance and check ups. They can also go pretty fast and when I was learning to operate it I had a few crashes into the furniture etc. It also wasn't very stable on our rough foot paths and deep cuts in the footpath to dip down onto the road. It is at risk of toppling over.

As a sphynx owner, I know that this breed has a tendency toward heart problems. When teeth cleaning happens, the animal is sedated. This could have lead to a heart incident. It is very sad and my heart goes out to Capt. Kate.

Don, the malfunction was probably the poor unfortunate old lady. A couple years ago on a NCL ship,an old lady ran into my wife and pinned her up against the wall ! The woman's daughter ran to her mother and asked if she was alright 😅 ! The old lady apologized.
