#1 Seated cambered bar preacher curls , lean back with your legs extended forward when pulling up on the bar , a slight bounce off the bottom to multiply the weight when you change directions , this slight bounce provides that extra load on the muscle that your motor ability cannot adapt to and keeps you from plateauing as you move up in weight. I do 240-250lbs for 7 reps , then move down to 200lbs for 20+ reps , full range. I'm only 225 at 5'9"

Dear Devon, I love your channel! You are the greatest arm-wrestler ever! The exercises you describe in this video (2:10) are very good and helpful. Indeed, I have always been intrigued with forearm exercises, size, and strength (inspired very much by your awesome physique!), and I have consistently used grippers for many years. However, after developing arthritis in my thumbs, hands, and wrists over the years (perhaps exacerbated by ongoing use of grippers, as they do push into the thumb/palm very much, as you describe), I did not know how I could continue forearm training that does not rely upon gripper-style squeezing and is not heavily-dependent on wrist flexion/extension (given that such movements are now troublesome also). So, I do thank you very much for this good advice and exercise demonstration; it has been working very well.

I believe there is a lot in the field of biceps development that exercise science hasn't figured out yet. I'm a very similar build to Devon (tall strong ectomorph), and always had trouble building big biceps. But when I stepped up my grip and forearm training following his routines, my biceps started getting bigger as well. It doesn't make sense on paper, but it works.
@robloxvids2233 Жыл бұрын
Forearm work is underrated. Almost nobody at the gym isolates forearm work. The cool think about forearms is there are a lot of muscles in there so if you isolate them from all angles you will see results fast. And it doesn't take much to really hit them hard. They will be burning quickly. The other good thing is they recover quickly so you can work them everyday. And there are a ton of ways to work them with a barbell and just a little weight. Grippers are good, too, but yes they are not comfortable.
@M1tjakaramazov Жыл бұрын

good one, about the gripers.... and i would say ... they are not so good for the wrist bones.... could be damage practicing in wrong angles ...
@ChurchOfThought6 жыл бұрын
never thought about it before but they probably cut off a lot of circulation too. i dont think theres any other muscle we work by sticking a spring between two limbs of the same muscle? itd be like working biceps by wedging a friggin accordion in your wenis (part of arm opposite the elbow.)

Hands have a different function than a bicep so that comparison is flawed and yes grippers do improve grip

And yes caution with it . Not everyone will do it the best way ... there are many bones in the wrist and nerves ... applying muscle pressure plus getting the compacting press as a stopper using a gripper ... could be risky....

On the other hand, there is adaption, and the amount of stress your hand can take, greatly increases, and it has to.... None of these exercises will be as straining to hand/wrist, as fighting Denis will... soo.. that’s my take on it.

Alot of,people say stuff I think, like how Devon gotem into the sport and stuff... Somethin I think many of us feel is that we would probably be able to kick,it with him without feelin deep down that he was acting or putting on. He seems genuine and people like that. One,more thing that is HUGE for me, is I love Devons talkin and mental game, fouling on purpose, whatever it may be... But what seals the deal for me is that when someone just,straight gets him like when John pinned him and wouldnt let him slip, he immediately was smiling and nodding... He even went,over into his corner all smiles... So what I'm sayin is he isn't just cool sometimes, he's always cool... I have a shirt he should add to his collection -"I brought the,awesome, whatd u bring?" Lol

I have a couple of those captains of crush hand grippers, and I had issues with those digging into my hands as well. On one of them I secured some pipe insulation using electrical tape and that was a bit more comfortable. Also a heavy pair of work gloves works well.
