I thought I've heard every Devo tune including "I Think I'm Falling in Love Again" - but not this one!! So wonderful to hear this!!! From an old, old lady who has been to 17 concerts of theirs. I quit going to all concerts 3 years ago after P-Nut of 311 deafened me, but it was all worth it.

I was just gonna say that. I’m younger than you so I grew up knowing DEVO as the WHIP IT band, until I bought ‘Are we not men? We are DEVO’ and I was instantly hooked. Songs like SPACE JUNK, JOCKO HOMO and so many more-probably the entire album honestly-were just so creative, fresh for the time-even though they were originally more of a punk band-and had such an interesting gimmick for the band that you couldn’t help but love them. Oh yeah, and Mark Mothersbaugh is an absolute living-legend in his craft. If you’re not aware, just look up everything he’s written music for.

I just found this, trying to find a sample of Jihad Jerry's recording from his new album.

one of my favorite early Devo numbers - thanks for posting it,as finding the record these days is near-impossible (b.t.w.-turned my teenage daughter on to Devo when she was about 9 & she's been hard-core ever since !)

I didn't know this song came out when I was 3. I thought it was new when Chef Aid came out. Some fan I am. I am a blockhead.

Same here! I thought it was new material when I bought that Chef Aid album--- more obsessed with South Park as a pre-teen and not even an acknowledged devo mutant for "Bob" yet! I find this recently and its wtf.

A personal favorite of mine, but sadly it remains unreleased. Does anybody think they will play this at the hardcore show? That would be epic- throw in this, "Nutty Buddy", "Subhuman Woman", "Pig's Wattle", "My Lai Mama", "Death of Lt. Casanova", and "Words get stuck in my throat" and the show will be the EXTRA hardcore show. (also, it would be EPICCCC)

They did a version of this for the South Park album. I actually had no idea it was this old.

Next time I go to Akron - which is fairly ofter - I'll drive by and make sure. It may still be there - albeit not as a punk club.

ENWG: thank you very much for posting an awesome find. All: This is the sound of the Spuds getting ready to hit the big time. A quick timeline? APRIL '77 -- Jerry gets call from LA; come play showcases. Uh-oh, not ready. MAY '77 -- Jerry quickly drives to NYC and sets up gigs at CBGB's & Max's, then returns, puts the Spudboys on a crash diet of gigs, including the new Eagle Street Saloon, a hardcore biker bar NOT noted for weirdos like Devo. NYC would be easier b/c practice makes perfect.

Eagle Street saloon got closed shortly after this time period. They didn't have a liquor license, so they filled the fridge with beers. Bikers ended one performance with an attempted lynching party, stopped only by the arrival of about 20 of Cleveland PD. Worst dump ever.

I'm not being sarcastic--I can die happy now. So the Saloon is now a stadium--Do you know what happened to The Crypt? You guys were practically regulars there... I can't find any information online about it or its fate.

Yeah - it is. Funny thing - I went to an Indians game a couple weeks ago and the new stadium sits smack where the Eagle Street Saloon used to be. Whoever owned it probably made a fortune when they sold the dump to the Jacobs Brothers.

Just amazing that the Band from the future could predict the coming of G.W., president of Amerika. Wonderful musicians, drinking in those drum fills.
