On the studio recording at 4:30, there's just the RIGHT amount of flanger <3 One of the best uses of flanger I've heard. Artists usually overdo it.

@2:05 DEVO was so intuitive, how did they know musicians wouldn't be playing on stage live, fans will be seeing "beautiful animated holograms..." of the band DEVO musicians on stage. Abba seem to be the first doing a hologram of their concerts, Kiss is working it now (2024) Japanese love their anime characters holograms playing their favorite songs "Live on stage"

lyrics for this version of Nutty Buddy (jerry always mixed them up between every show so yk): Say hello to Nutty Buddy, he's the only pal you'll ever know. Say hello to Mr. Goodbar, can't you see? he's running down the road. Watch out for Nutty Buddy, can't you see? he's running on the floor (running from the gun? running from the cops? idk) Watch out for Mr. Goodbar, I think, he's straddlin' a heavy, load. [Chorus] Well I did not, check your I.D. No I did not, check your I.D. When you jumped into my playpen, I made you swallowed up, all my toys. [Chorus] *my favorite synth solo from mark here* If not for Mr. Goodbar, we'd be all dressed up and circling the town! Hey hey for Nutty Buddy, someone told him we was here! Watch out for Mr. Goodbar, he's all dressed up and circling the town! Good god (or look out) for Nutty Buddy, He's about to let his fingers through the walk-in! [Chorus x8 or something - ALL MY TOYS!!!] "thank yall... nutty buddy... :P" - sounds like Bob1 or just Jerry putting on a funny voice

Just finished Chris Connolly's book. Terry Roberts is Terry Bones "Tezz". He was in discharge, broken bones, battalion of saints, UK subs. SO this lineup has more that jello for a punk icon. Terry's bands were more my speed, so this wee bit of useless knowledge has blown my mind.

In 2024, they are STILL ahead of the game. It’s a wonder how they ever had a decent following in the 80’s

My PLUG started repeatedly "singing" these lyrics when I tried to score some smack. I was releasing heroin into my vein then the plug grabbed me and yelled like Mark Mommyboog in the beginning of the video. I ultimately felt nothing and abandoned my Plug later in my life........

I can definitely Sense this stuff from ministry being the forefront for their metal stuff even after listening to victims of a clown and I can compare how even to their metal days they still keep to their reverb delay style and synth stuff kinda :) and also I can definitely hear some distortions in this ❤❤❤❤❤ also their keyboardist from victims of a clown rocks :)

They need to pass out diapers and turn on the subsonic frequencies at most corporate business meetings. At least they would be more productive. Devo, the musical laxative for a constipated society!

Marks playful jibe at Eddie Van Halen makes me think of that scene with Rod Rooter asking Devo to write some hits like "Parcheesi" or the "Evil Clowns".

I just had a sort of epiphany about this song while listening to it: It's kind of a vague prototype of "Gut Feeling." The structure is almost the same, minus the segue into another short song in "Gut Feeling" and the fact that the chorus of "Nutty Buddy" switches patterns. Both follow kind of a mid-pace tempo, the verses have a repeated pattern of five measures with muted power chords in the rhythm guitar, the song begins with a long jam involving synth arpeggios, and the song kind of gradually builds up in intensity and sonic chaos. Even the lyrical schemes match up pretty closely.
