I’m just guessing but I think part of your success is because you seem very likable and accessible. you approach the people on the subways as respectful and humble yet knowing that you’ve done something they will like. Even in this video when you are saying how competitive you are, you are also giving credit to those that helped you along the way. Humility and pride simultaneously. It is an interesting combination.

I like that I saw this talk AFTER watching 15-20 of his videos because I completely understand what he’s saying about the hook, the story, have to watch to the end of each video. People feel as though no one sees them, alone in a crowd. I think that’s why quite a few have got emotional when he presents the finished drawing to them.

Hi Devon, I stumbled upon one of your videos this summer. I immediately was hooked. I have zero talent in drawing . I do have some talent with photography and did take college classes. I do have tremendous respect for individuals like you, your brain amazes me with the beautiful images it holds. I'm just baffled. I applaud you Devon and I wish you much more success. It's better to take private classes one on one. This is what I learned. This is what I did. I stopped drawing at age 19. I only started taking it serious around age 16, but I saw a lot of improvement in this short amount of time. I could never do this in a classroom setting. It has to be one on one. I only had 1 class a week and got homework during that week. I probably had like 10 private classes.

The biggest & best investments is in yourself, personal and professional relationships in time energy, but your return for that time and energy is worth more than you can realize. Your greatful to your grandmother and teachers who invested thier time energy into you (i have no question that they are estatic with their investments). Don't forget the time and energy you invested into yourself (it was by effort studying learning and continuing on that it is starting to see a glimpse). I don't know if you realize how those pictures that you have drawn for people have changed people's outlook that day and into their futures. You may have done this to market yourself, however you changed people's lives forever (it may be the way that they treat people, in self confidence, in giving them something good to see in the world, hope). Never stop investing in yourself or those relationships you wish to bloom. Give your Grandma a hug from me as well, and thank you for the investment into this world you've been making.
