Very important difference that these reviews miss: The screen of the Cintiq 16 gets scratched easily because it has a textured coating over the screen as opposed to the Cintiq 16 Pro's etched glass. Honestly, I would choose the pro for this reason alone. Unless you're a pretty light user, your screen is going to look scratched up after about a year.

Thanks for sharing- that's a great point. Perhaps I should've mentioned it in the video. All the Cintiqs I've used have marks on their screen after about a year, so it's something I've come to expect. Personally, I find that it doesn't affect my work at all. I only notice it when the display is turned off.

Interesting! I upgraded to a cintiq pro a while back and the difference is night and day for me. The area I usually draw on my cintiq 16 is very noticeably scratched up when drawing on it whereas the pro screen looks untouched months later. I have read that swapping out your pen nibs periodically can alleviate this though.

I've been using cintiq 16 everyday for the last 1,5 years. It doesn't feel as textured as it used to be. More fine scratches building up and getting more and more noticable. Not that the scratch would alter the pen movement. I could honestly see myself using the cintiq 16 for more than 5 years . However, I'm planning to upgrade to the new cintiq 16 pro in the near future. I do think 4k is a little bit overkill, 2K is enough for crisp 16 incher, however, I need that extra color accuracy, etched glass and minimal parallax.

My 16 got a couple scratches from the pen (was drawing too hard as a novice artist) that actually affected linework. Thankfully I was already planning on upgrading but I'm still a bit upset that the texture surface is just a gimmick that I didn't know I needed to avoid. Edit: I'm confident even with my firmer press that I would not scratch a pro screen the way it easily did on the regular version

The new Cintiq Pro 16 (2021) features the VESA mount and is compatible with the optional Cintiq 16 stand. The screen is also improved and brighter. Hi, thanks for this, I was considering the upgrade but it does not seem worth it after watching this review. One question: what is the desk stand that you are using at 5:35 and how do you deal with keeping your elbow floating for long periods of time? In terms of ergonomics, without taking breaks often, it might not be a much better solution, as it might hurt your arm, long term.

I've been drawing on tablets for 20+ years. I had a cintiq pro and changed it for a 16 non pro. The biggest problem is the screen colours, they are a bit out of whack. Besides that, unless you are a perfectionist i don't think theres's any real reason to get the pro above the non pro. Parallax is a non issue. non 4k Resolution is a non issue for me. It's sturdily built and more than does the job. The main thing you want is the wacom quality of drawing which the competition still lacks, which is going to be more or less the same on both, so if you are neither rich nor anal about these things then go for the 16.
