Devops vs SRE vs platform engineer How much is the platform engineer is different from other two roles?
@AbhishekVeeramalla Жыл бұрын
It’s different. Platform Engineers build a platform that others can use.
@abdulrehmaan1113 Жыл бұрын
I was hired as a senior devops engineer. But i am working as a platform engineer. Our platform is on AWS, but the role they gave me, is senior infrastructure engineer, and recently i upgraded eks clusters through terraform. My team mainly focuses on cost optimisation, latency etc. Platform team manages the Data infra as well. Like nosql dbs, Kafka etc and data pipeline etc. Also platform team, considers development teams as internal customers, so we fulfill developer requests and release application changes to staging and prod. While the SRE team owns all the observability tools etc, we also are part of on call process with SRE to manage systems. We do have support team as well who do app monitoring team etc.
@manushathri5660 Жыл бұрын
I work as a cloud platform engineer and mainly implement infra as a cloud, build ci/cd pipelines, monitor and operate infra, also resolve development issues.

Do you mean SRE is more of support role, working in shifts, resolving incidents, monitoring and creating dashboars etc. In that case one wont be having any work exposure on cicd terraform k8s or docker etc. Then how is this a better role than Devops ?? According to me devops >>>> sre !! Who agrees and please feel free to clear my doubts
