Thanks for the tip, John. Having streamed the 3 tracks which were available on Qobuz, I ordered a vinyl copy which just arrived here in the UK and I'm about to play it!

I loved it! I ordered the LP. I've been listening to death metal, jazz, and classical since my teens. This reminded me of Devil Doll. If you haven't heard them you should listen to the Sacrilege of fatal arms and Dies Irae both are excellent albums!

Thanks for this! I'm sure it gets weirder, but after that description I was pretty surprised by how pleasant that clip was. As a long time fan of classical, free jazz, and metal (specifically death, doom, drone, and other forms of metal that are thought of as challenging), at least the chunk you played here seems like something a lot of metalheads wouldn't have difficulty with (and I didn't feel much free jazz in this clip, but I'll investigate further). I think you might underestimate metal fans' appetite for classical music. Opera is a bit of a stretch (as it is for many classical music fans), but there are certainly operatic vocals in metal here and there. The combination of operatic vocals and slower, doomy guitars is unusual even in metal, for sure. The growling here is very clean though! It's far from the intense, constant growls you get in a lot of death metal.

Although I don't generally choose to listen to Cookie Monster vocals, I do think they seemed appropriate here, and I could see how a live performance would take it to another level. It was interesting to occasionally hear elements that reminded me of Morphine. Thanks for championing the tough stuff, I love being exposed to interesting creations even if I wouldn't (at this point) circle back to them often. (edit: looking forward to any of your inktober creations).

Ordered! Very cool. I think we need some boundaries pushed more than we admit, helps with stagnation. 😉 I think the way you market this is exactly how you did…challenge people, tell them what they are up against and see if they rise to the challenge. Some of my friends told me once that I wasn’t supposed to like all scotch, but rather, sometimes it is meant to punch you in the face after a long day. I hope this does the same! 😊

Thanks for the introduction. Loved the opening, great instrumentation. Shame about the screamo in other tracks, the one barrier for me 🤣

Hello everyone. Well, this music has taken me directly to the movies, to Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Schinder's List. Perhaps this is one of those works considered music for musicians. Greetings.

I'm all for it John. Kinda scared to listen, but I'm sure that record will be worth a fortune some day. Sent it along to a friend who introduced me to Sun O)))) and Imperial Triumphant amongst others. Truly progressive art is hard to stomach often. Thanks for this.

I was prepared to hate this music, but I found it thoroughly provocative yet disturbing. It sounded like Kate Bush, Marilyn Manson and Captain Beefheart pumped with large doses of steroids. Some of the videos of this "opera" on You Tube feature closed caption which is an absolute must in order to fully appreciate the story line. You do have a knack for finding music for those of us living on the fringe of mainstream art. Don't stop!

I try to be open listening to everything - at least once. If something catches my ear I will listen again. But I openly reject the notion, “you just don’t get it” meant to suggest I am not smart enough to get. Music is subjective. Sometimes it just sucks and there isn’t anything to get.

Necrophilia doesn't sound enticing, true. Among the few books I couldn't bring myself to finish reading was Bauer's sickening European Book of the Dead, as I do have a limit as far as e.g. cruelty is concerned, having said that, upon closer inspection, and I'm saying this as a classical music aficionado, many opera librettos verge on the absurd, and it's often best to tackle the uncharted from that perspective (as e.g. satire can be positively shocking, thinking of e.g. Swift's Modest Proposal), so I'll definitely give this a shot. Thanks!

Nice one, thanks John! Would have been great to support La-Suspendida by getting the vinyl, but unfortunately it was not available in EU. Delivery from US was a bit too much, as it would double the price.
