wait...?... What do you mean Devourment is the reason we have Obscene Extreme Fest and the like? O.E.F. is an originally Grindcore, Goregrind, Deathgrind Fest created by Curby on his property. Later on as the years went by its growth became huge and adopted more Brutal Death acts with the goregrind acts because they often share the same crowds and are fans of eachother. I would give all the credits to Curby for one for setting up the fest, and then second to the fans of goregrind for who managed to flood the airports worldwide to get there. How Devourment is a reason for fests like Obscene Extreme Fest is beyond me dude, but whatever makes ya happy.

I spent a few years avoiding Deicide because i first heard them when I was in middleschool and (being catholic) found their lyrics to be really off putting. didn’t listen to them until i went to college and very quickly fell in love. a similar thing happened with cryptopsy and gorguts. i heard both near the beginning of my death metal journey (I was only listening to suffocation, death, and amon amarth at that point) and coukdn’t handle the franticness of their blastbeats, thought they sounded almost out of time. spend the next year avoiding them, then reviseted them and now I have a cryptopsy patch on my battlejacket and Obscura’s in my top 50 albums of all time
