Best Yes lineup of all time. Bruford, Rabin, Downes and Sherwood all deserve respect, among the other dudes, but this is it, when I think about Yes, that's the lineup who comes to my mind. R.I.P. Alan and Chris.

Yes not invited into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but the Beasty Boys are being inducted...the friggin' Beasty Boys AND Guns and Roses - neither band can carry Yes's guitar cases, even without Rick W. and Jon A.

Exactly... f*cking exactly. Yes were inducted far to late; and when they were finally inducted in 2018, Chris, arguably the most important member of Yes and who had kept them alive for nearly 50 years, had died. They had been eligable for 25 years before being inducted. The RNRHOF is a joke and has been for years.

I saw this same set when they played Sweden Rock Festival same year (also featuring Jethro Tull and Wishbone Ash). It was the first time they played SOTS on tour since the early days, and we had all heard the rumours. Jon smiled and asked if there were any requests, and everyone around me shouted for this song!

So sad to see a band of this majesty having had to play outdoor summer festivals, with people listening politely, and others walking by totally disinterested. Granted, it has been 35 years, and half the crowd wasn't around when these songs were released. Still, sad. I like how they started doing their songs acoustically, and there's some nice versions here on KZbin of that (or were...)
@yes_head
@yes_head 2 жыл бұрын
Or: There were probably people in that crowd who weren't even aware Yes were still a going concern. That show may have motivated some of them to look for their newer recordings, putting a few more shekels into the band's pocket. Playing a festival has its downsides, but there's not much downside playing one as big and important as this.

I have heard the band have better live mixes. The equipment and stage displays seem to be scaled down also. I think the enthusiasm is low in addition except for Squire. It sounds like a backing track was used on HEAVEN, which would be unusual for YES. I thought it sounded out of sync for a moment but I maybe wrong . It is all OK though. History Been Made. Thanks for the post! (Years Ago!)

evelyn stroem To be fair to Floyd Flag Man (I assume man), the Dark Side of the Moon flag seems to be around every Glastonbury festival, a lone prog fan there every year. Not sure if you're aware, but this festival has hundreds of bands playing over three days across many stages. In 2003 Yes we're third billing on the third stage on the final day. I was there 😁

Actually this is an interesting one. Usually when Alan plays that drum intro, he plays the accents on beats 3 and 4 on the snare drum with the sixteenth note triplets being filled in by snare, bass drum and tom notes. But for some reason, in this performance he decides to play it more like the way Bill Bruford plays it on the original recording with the beat 3 and 4 accents being played on a tom, rather than the snare. It sounds perfectly fine but I think it throws Jon off, as he’s probably used to it being played the other way. So I would say it’s mainly Jon’s mistake but I understand why it happened if Alan was playing the intro differently to usual.
