I have just had mine since march and put the batteries in and it did not start. Thank goodness it was just the stuck kill switch. Lol. Thank you for taking the time to show this. It is guys like you that are the only resource to fix things because if you take it to the "dealer" they are useless and have no clue how to fix things. This is very helpful. Really good post and thanks for the parts links. It all worked fine. Anyone reading this, and looking to replace the bearing, buy the suggested bearing puller. It will save you a lot of time. I couldn’t find one locally and the one I had was too large. I spent a while fabbing something to work with my puller. A large C-clump works to press the bearing on, at least part way. Also the mower didn’t start when I first put it together. I took the motor assembly back out and disconnected and reconnected the wires, making sure all were fully seated. It then started fine. I left the brake shoes out as was suggested in another comment. Mine were damaged. Not sure if it made a much of a difference. Will leave them out.

Thank you for the video. I was afraid to just dive in. You helped show me how simple these things are. Our mower had the same bearing to out. So, it looks to be like the brake is on all the time, so it overheats and all the crap goes to the bearing from the brake. I will be taking my brake off.

My 21in version had the same problem after a couple of months. Luckily I was within the return period. If I had to make a trip to the service center, I would have brought the mower so they could fix it. This fix would come in handy if you didn't have a backup though.

Guess its for torque reasons. Aswell as if you bend motor shaft, you throw out the motor. and if you somehow drive over steel rod or something the belt will just slip

I can't get the pulley and spindle off. I took two screwdrivers to undo the break and the wheel spun freely but I couldn't pull it out like you did

Same here. The battery level indicator on the top of the mower does not turn on. I have pulled the entire mower apart and cannot find anything obviously wrong with it. I'm guessing the electronics are fried. I have checked the kill switch and the safety switch and all is ok there. Very frustrating. Out of warranty and hardly done any work. Great video though. Thanks.

Was just given one of these and there is a lot of play in the blade spindle. The thing is all of one year old. Don't know if MTD is making these for Dewalt but they are crap. Greenworks is a much better quality product.

I have Remington, used 2 standard 7ah gel cells. Runs fine for years, my neighbor bought all DeWalt, everything break down or stopped working after 1.5 ~ 2 years. You would think DeWalt is the best but....👎👎👎

good for you. We have been using this lawn mower very hard not only cutting grass with using as a mulch trimming the tree branch falling leaf and so many others chipping. It is good machine. easy to fix KZbin already pay for all my parts on this video thank you for that I just share my experience and I still love my machine . I will buy the new version too
