specific torque specification on the blade mounting bolt?

Not a clue. It's not mentioned in the manual.

Tight + a quarter turn. The mower spins opposite to the thread direction, so it can't come loose.

Thank you. I hit a concrete block and the mower stopped wanting to run. I went and got a blade and checked this video to see what way the bolt turned out. The mower runs like new even though it has been abused a few times lol. Thanks and I love DeWalt 😋

Yea, I can't imagine that was a fun sound when it hit. I haven't had to replace the blade since I've made the video. I think I finally figured out where all the big roots in my yard are 😅

Thanks for making this. After an hour of fighting with it, using a block did the trick.

Dude I am still so glad you made this video. I come here every time I mess up a blade and fail to remove the bolt. Then I question if it’s a left-hand thread and I’m grateful you convinced me I’m not screwing in the wrong direction. Much appreciated once again!

I'm glad I can help! I questioned whether this video would be remotely helpful, and honestly I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people it has helped!

I checked out your video because I wasn’t sure if it was reverse thread or not so I appreciate that part! I used an impact drill (not impact gun) to release it and held the blade with a pair of gloves on while it busted loose, didn’t take much at all! Worked like a charm. Then I sharpened it and put it back on with low and then switched it to medium and hit it with one or two ugga duggas to tighten it back up. Wallah

Excellent video. Straight and to the point. Is it possible to change the carrier to accommodate a non-proprietary mower blade?
@thehousemann7 ай бұрын
I haven't looked into it as I haven't hit anything in a while 😂. But given that the carrier pops right out, I don't see why not. Would just be a matter of finding a carrier that works with this mower. Doing a search on mtd (which is the manufacturer of the blades and carriers) seems like this would work. www.mtdparts.com/en_US/blade-adapters/blade-adapter-kit---1.19inch-x-78inch-inside-dia./OEM-753-0588.html#q=%2BBlade%2BAdapter%2BKit%2B-%2B1.19%22%2Bx%2B7%2F8%22%2BInside%2BDia.&lang=en_US&start=0

I know this is from a few years ago, but curious if you or anybody knows if other blades, non dewalt, can fit in there. It's got that s groove and I've never replaced a blade before. Thanks

@@icecursor you can! I actually made a video on that. Just haven't edited and uploaded it. If you give me a couple of days I'll try to get it up

I got the same mower!! Replaced the blade because it’s not cutting my tall fescue good enough but it’s still not cutting it good ☹️ What could be the issue?
@thehousemann7 ай бұрын
Depends what you mean by doesn't cut it well. I have fescue in my back yard and the mower will bog if the grass is too tall (think it's because it's too dense) But that's more to do with the mower not having enough torque than the sharpness of the blade. If that's the case for you as well, I recommend cutting at a higher height
@Adasdream7 ай бұрын
@@thehousemann the grass keeps having that haze look. If you look at the blades of the grass? It’s not cutting smooth across the top.

You're going to be sorry when that block of wood kicks out and the blade goes charging across your foot or leg. Better to wedge it between the blade and the side of the mower maybe up where the discharge shoot is so it'll hold.
@thehousemann2 жыл бұрын
Unless your using an impact gun. I wouldn't be too concerned. If anything I might recommend using a thicker wood like scrap 4x4
