@@inventions47 hey I only use the 54v big sizes for the larger tools like table saw etc. anything smaller like jigsaws i stick with the 18v 5ah and now the new power stack. The added weight for smaller tools isn’t worth the extra run time for me. I would rather just swap batteries on the fast charger and save my wrist.

Thanks, good info. I've never used a barrel grip. I like the idea of more accurate, tighter turns. Too bad dewalt didn't make the barrel grip with a variable speed trigger. That's enough to make me get the D handle.

It already has a speed dial that you can easily turn with your pinky. Why have two different ways to change speed? Most tools with variable speed triggers don't have dials and vice versa.

the lever on the side is not blade angle. it’s 3 oscillating modes. 1 being the lowest movement and 3rd hash at the top being the highest. makes for much faster cuts. but they are rougher cuts
@ToolsThatBuild
@ToolsThatBuild Ай бұрын
Tomato potato, the oscillation is changed by blade angle the motor and rpm do not change on the different settings. The way the blade meets the material is what causes the ruffer cut. Hence the simpler explanation instead of going into length of oscillation is to explain it as blade angle.

Awesome video. I’ve been considering a jig saw as my next tool purchase. Owning other Dewalt 20v tools has drawn me to one of these saws. Regarding the variable speed trigger on the barrel grip-please give me some situations when this can come in handy. Thx!
@ToolsThatBuild
@ToolsThatBuild Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you, the variable speed trigger is helpful when you need to slow the blade down mid cut. If your making an intricate cut or your cutting a harder material like metal both times you’ll need to slow down the blade. Both jigsaws can be slowed but the barrel grip needs to be pulled back and slowed down on the detent settings where the D handle trigger can just be squeezed a little lighter.

Hi, the black handle you push(2.50) I am finding it very stiff it will not go go forward at all, did you have the same issue at the start?
@ToolsThatBuild
@ToolsThatBuild 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, no neither saw had that issue. I would check to make sure either your plate isn’t locked so the handle has been jammed back or there is debris blocking it from moving forward. Take a close look at it if everything seems to be clean and locked you may have a lemon and I would warranty it through Dewalt or exchange it for another one if it’s fairly new. I’m guessing the plate is jammed so the handle is stiff though. Wiggle the plate and blow it out with some air to see if that frees it up.
@ChristopherClaudioSkierka
@ChristopherClaudioSkierka 3 жыл бұрын
you forgot to mention scribing , probably easier so you can cut upside down . Have you tried with a 2 oh battery? how long do you think it would last before it cuts out of power?
@ToolsThatBuild
@ToolsThatBuild 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah scribing or coping or anything with quick short direction changes and going upside down the barrel grip is the one to get. Runtime depends on what your cutting and how much force your putting behind the saw. I haven’t measured it just constantly running but those tests usually don’t reflect real world use anyway. I can say both saws run about the same amount of time and are a large improvement over the previous model.
