Best battery for a large tool like that is the 9ah flex volt. Powerstack is too small for the amount of amps this thing’s motor asks for.

Power stack will produce almost the same as the 9ah. Only around 40lbs more. And that’s with both batteries doing over a 1000ft lbs.

You've got what looks like a half dead 5ah battery on that Dewalt and it sounds like it too, needs at least a 6ah XR with the 21700 cells or the 9ah flexvolt battery, both of which are Dewalt's top performers.

3/4 drive has entered the chat. Some bolts need the next step up these impacts are ridiculous these days but your not going to loosen everything. A rusty crusty hitch nut for example.

Whoops missed that. What I actually meant was 3/4 ratchet with 4 foot handle. As those impacts clearly don't have enough power. The Milwaukee seems to move it a tiny bit at the end though.

@@merica-lr1xtmost military equipment doesn't require giant tools to work on at least a field repair type scenario. But a major component yes. Most likely that bolt head will break without heat being thrown at it. The DeWalt can put out numbers of a 3/4 and then some

That’s the frame extension for an Aerial compressor depending on the model that some heavy torque (500ft lbs +). Plus the fact that Loctite 515 always seeps into the bolt holes you can do it with a half 1/2 impact, but you’ll be there for a while and it will be needing a rest between each bolt

They’re the spacer bars for the frame torqued at 580ftlb , we oil them, I originally posted this video to hear the difference in RPMs, In the end I ended up switching to Milwaukee , wish I coulda got a better video but we were doing a overhaul

Just from the sound of the impact when it’s running makes me think it’s defective, my matco 1/2 and Milwaukee 1/2 high torques sound nothing like that.

In case everyone doesn't know. The DCF961 has a built on feature were the impact hits with about half its power for the first five seconds then doubles it after that. Its wierd but thats how it is.

Of the 12 bolts , 9 were with a hammer wrench and 3 came out with a 3/4 Milwaukee(barely), after installing them back to 560 ft lbs we tried the dewalt and they didn’t budge

@@connor3288 there’s 6 bolts (1-1/8”) on each side of the frame one guy tackles his six and I tackle mine, most of the time my coworker breaks them with the 3/4 Milwaukee , at first I tried the 899 & didn’t work, then i bought the Dcf 900 & still no budge, in this video this is the first time trying my 961 & still nothing, you’d think the frame still being full of hot oil it would help , tomorrow ill record a longer version

@@jaimegarza8071 I just thought, are you using a drive adaptor on dcf961 to use a 3/4 drive socket? That robs a bunch of torque, torque test channel has video on testing the losses with different drive adaptors. The other factor is in real world, sometimes some bolts will have been tightened by previous guy more than other bolts, or be more corroded than others.

You probably got the wrong sized socket on or shaped depending on the bolt some bolts have rounded off spots some are sharp edged gotta find a socket that fits it correctly you can tell it dosnt fit by how its jumping in and out when your trying to undue it

Use 9ah flex volt and hold the 961 still. It is 1/2 anvil so alot of its power is transmitted back to the gun in rattle. also wait past 4 secconds for its vteck, usually it takes me 4 secconds of vteck to take off semi trailer lugs put on by millwakes biggest impact wrench. I don't recommend 5ah powerstack because it is not big enough to supply the voltage for maximum vteck capabilities.

I think there is something wrong with your Dewalt my Milwaukee has a seemingly similar problem it works most of the time but when things are rel tight it just bounces around more than normal but doesn't do much to loosen im told its a bad bearing but i haven't hopend it up yet

@@joshr7434 it's the dcf961 lol. It's pushing well over 1,000 ft lbs. Breakaway torque. That's the old Milwaukee impact wrench that only puts out around 587 ft lbs. Check it out on the torque test channel for comparison.

From watching torque test channel i learned that they keep building torque for usually around 12-15 seconds. It might help it might not but you only held them on there for about ¾ of their power band.you only held the dewalt on there for 3 seconds after it went into its "overdrive" mode. It definitely was still climbing

I have the new Dewalt AND Milwaukee impacts- the Dewalt doesn't sound or act anything like that. That was either a bad counterfeit battery on the Dewalt, a knockoff Dewalt 961 or it's broken.

@@jaimegarza8071 Nothing wrong with all Milwaukee. However, if you try Dewalt again make sure you buy from an authorized Dewalt retailer listed on their website. So many identical looking fakes out there now from unauthorized retailers. The 961 is a really sweet impact I promise (as is the M18). Good luck.
