The "DON'T LOSE THIS" tag for the key is golden. Try to find a spare or one to replace a missing key... nearly impossible. Mine was missing the key but had everything else. Went back to Homey Depot and they gave me a key from another of the same model. Also waiting for warmer weather and the grass to grow. I first considered the newest Toro (preferably w/o the headlights) but those are still apparently not available. This Dewalt appears to be well made and the run time should be approximately an hour under normal conditions. Because I have a large yard and a JD X390 (48"), even if I just do the more confined areas and "trimming" with this mower, it should work well. One thing I noticed last evening (yeah, I started it inside the house... the dog was not amused, but rather was initially confused, worthy of a head tilt) that if you squeeze the wheel drive "triggers" all the way, the mower will really boogitate, even if the thumbwheel is set completely to the slowest setting. Do I need to think of this as a variable speed tool (like a drill) and just do a partial squeeze? It is either that or chase it around the yard and get the heart rate up. ;)

Thanks for the video, I just picked up this mower but have some questions with issues I'm having. When using the self-propelled function it vibrates and makes a terrible chain grinding sound. The vibration and sound are so annoying I can't use the function. Much smoother and easier to push it. Does yours do the same thing? Also your right can't cut more than a couple inches of grass without stalling. All my tools are DeWalt so I got it for the batteries but I'm considering returning it to Home Depot. I tried connecting to Support at DeWalt and it was a waste of time no one knows anything and you can't even talk to a real person who has used one of these. Thanks

Just got mine in today, I got the DCMWSP255U2 which is the same mower but comes with the 2x20v 10ah batteries. Was so excited to get it but mine seems to have a few issues(or maybe I do), I would love to know if you have the same problems or if mine is a lemon. My front right tire sits slightly higher then the rest, and on the highest adjustment setting a bolt interferes with the adjustment lever and can't fully seat; it could just be mine or a defect in the adjustment system. The Battery indicator on my mower doesn't do anything except blink red once when I start it up, Dewalt said it only lights up when the batteries are completely dead; but that would be kind of pointless as the mower shutting off would tell me the batteries are dead, and we'd have no way to estimate how much run time we have left without an indicator. My self propulsion lever unit is rather loose and has a bit of play where it attaches to the handle. Lastly, the underside of the mower where the blade is at either has a horrible paint job, or a protective coat over the paint, but mine is rough, and has a greenish tint. I don't expect things to be perfect, but every one of the 16 other Dewalt tools I own are great but for $600 the mower just took the wind out of my sails. I'd love your input based on what yours is like!

Yea I returned it and got the first gen Dewalt mower on sale for $250. I already had eight 5ah batteries from other tools and that’s what I use with it. I tried the 10ah and I don’t like them, I prefer to use the 5’s and change them more often, by the time I cycle through them all the first set is charged up again. And if a battery ever goes down and I need to send it off to Dewalt support I got plenty of extras. Takes about three pairs of the 5ah batteries to cut my half an acre in mulching mode. When it’s taller and a little wet it can use up to the fourth set of batteries, but I swap them when the battery indicator gets to 1/3rd battery life, not when they are fully dead. The first gen mower cuts better, is easier to push, and is more comfortable to push then the new models. If you can snag the first gen for $250-$350; DO IT! You can get 5ah batteries affordable on Amazon.

After spending 180 miles (three 60-mile round trips) and the associated travel time, plus the time spent troubleshooting this beast, I have returned it to Home Depot. The height adjustment was just not right, and the speed adjustment was more than "quirky"... it just plain did not work. The whole thing proved disappointing as Dewalt stuff was always among the best available, Even one of the peepz at HD commented that they have seen some problems with the Dewalt mowers lately. I really wanted this thing to work and did all within my power to resolve the problems. Dewalt Customer Support appears ill equipped to resolve problems... poor (or no) documentation makes their jobs more difficult. Oh, well... on to more research to find a reasonably good electric mower.
