Hi, Do you realise that once you've set the hight the manual states that the lock bar should pressed down on top of the machine head before sending your work piece through, and unlock before raising or lowering. I had a Ryobi pretty basic machine from new, and when I purchased the DW733-XE I expected to be impressed, but apart from fresh blades I have been underwhelmed by the lack of pull through from the rollers, causing slip from rollers and consequently black marks from roller slipping on work. I've only used it a few times and already had it back into the shop twice and as it is still under warranty am considering a refund or a replacement.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t realise that and have put upwards of 100m of oak and beech through my machine with no real issues. I do find that the feed tables become more ‘sticky’ with time and I need to lubricate them but with the lubrication the wood feeds very easily. For what I do I don’t need absolute accuracy but I suspect locking the head might improve it.

Hi there, thanks for the info on this machine, are you going to make a video on the Wixey digital addition ? - that seems a great idea 👍🏼

Thanks, great suggestion. I’ve moved house recently so can do any woodworking until I sort my garage workshop. But I’ll look at doing a video on that when I’m sorted.

Great video. What dust extractor will you recommend with this machine?

You need a decent extractor with a 100mm or greater capacity. This produces masses of chips. I was fortunate to get a semi-industrial extractor second hand. It wall mounted and copes very well.

Hi, I've a question I hope you may be able to answer. Is the main table of the machine higher than both the table extensions. Even taking into account where levelling the table extensions as you would normally do in your set up doesn't help as the height difference is where the table extensions pivot right beside main table. And the pivot point doesn't move as it's part of the main bloc of the main table. This all means that when you run a board through the machine (regardless of how you adjust the table height of the table extensions) it bumps into the main table and has to bounce up so to speak before the rollers grab it. I have this issue with a new 733 and wondering if it's part of the design or a mistake in manufacture. Thanks.

Sadly my DW733 is in for repair at the moment as it kept tripping the mains. I'll check when I get it back in a week or so. From memory I've got mine setup so that the outer edges of the indeed and outfield tables are very slightly higher than the centre bed. I read somewhere that this helps minimise snipe and it seems to work for me.

@@SandyMatheson Thanks for replying. Yeah I get the adjusting the outside edges of the infeed and outfeed tables. It's really the height of the inside edges of both tables that I guess concerns me. On mine they are lower than the main table - right at the pivot point. Hope I'm making sense. Thanks again.
