Great instruction video. Not sure I would have tried this approach on my own. When I bought the belt there were several comments about how long it took to install, up to half a day. I took my time and followed the instruction video carefully. Took me just 30 minutes! Made my day - thanks!

Solid tip with the clamp. Completed in less than a minute what I'd already been trying for an hour+.

Hah, same (replaced cutterhead to shelix, and no idea where the bushing went). Came here to see where the bushing goes. My pulley is a bit stuck now, so I'll have to figure that out to put in the replacement bushing when it gets here. Wish you'd have shown the bushing part, but otherwise, good video. Loved the clamp method - I'm definitely going to try that next.

Hi guys, I’m looking at this video because I had a belt break on my DW 735 and I to have the Byrd Shelix cutterhead. What bushing are you guys referring to? Did you get the larger Shelix where you have to remove all of the carbide bits in order to install it Is there a part that I’m missing from Shelix? Is this why my belt shredded at this worse time ever.

What replacement bushing??? The same set up and just shredded my belt. Did I not line something up correctly when I installed the Shelix?
@guate6
@guate6 Жыл бұрын
@@gregrossignol3981 I got the smaller one where no removal is needed. Either way, the busing is necessary - I couldn't find mine, so I had to remove the pulley. I then had to bend the pulley to get it off (because the vibrations didn't allow it to come out), so I also had to get a replacement pulley. It works flawlessly now.

Thanks a bunch! Love you brother. I looked at my straight cutter head that I still had and low and behold the bushing was still on there!! Slid it right off and onto my she licks and now I’ll be good to go. So thank you very much. If anyone else is wondering about the bushing, it’s goes directly behind the polling pulley and is about an 8th inch thick and three eights of an inch long give or take, and it looked like it was part of the old original cutter. The KZbin video I watched while doing the install of my Shelix never mentioned the bushing so I I didn’t see it. Easy to miss. Hope this helps someone.

First off thanks for the video. It gave me inspiration to figure out what I feel is a little easier then the clamp. It starts out the same way by loading the belt around the circular metal wheel. I also suggest you mark where the key is to make sure you have everything aligned. The big difference is using a screw driver as a lever. Stick it through the the hole on the wheel into the hole in the rod and just bend the screw driver straight to get it in. Hope that help.

Appreciate the video. In particular, your comment re: the bushing. While disassembling mine to remove a melted belt, I discovered that, although present, I installed the bushing incorrectly, causing pulley misalignment. Thanks again.

@@seamancustombuilds2553 it was exactly what I needed. The only thing that I ran into was the belt came off of the upper gear when I was installing it and I had to roll it off with a screw driver and a socket wrench, remove the lower gear and try it again. Thanks again, man

The bushing looks like a thicker washer, I don’t know if this only had to be done on older Shelix cutterhead or if the new one need it swapped too.

somehow i also failed to transfer the bushing. it took about 2 years to destroy the belt and then started going through them too fast to believe. i too found the bushing on my old blades. this seems to solve the problem of the belt walking off the pulleys.
