Spent about 20 minutes trying to get that thing back on before we stopped and found found your video. Thanks for saving us probably the rest of our night 😊

I had two problems: uneven planing thickness across the width of the bed, and a very hard-turning height adjustment wheel. Of all the videos I found, only this one has any explanation of how to adjust the carriage height. That simple adjustment solved both my problems. Thank you for this video.

Thanks for the help Christopher! As far as I can find you are the only video that shows how to retime the screws.

This was super helpful; thank you! I just bought a new DW735, and the box was pretty beat up by fedex. To me, the height adjustment wheel seems "stiff" and a little "rough". I see it described as "smooth as silk" online, so I'm trying to figure out whether mine was damaged in shipping. I spent an hour with "overseas" Dewalt "technical support", which basically just read the user manual back to me. I'm trying to figure out whether mine is out of damaged or out of timing. It takes about 12 in-lb to turn the height wheel when lowering the cutterhead and about 18 in-lb to turn it when raising. Is that consistent with what you shoot for when establishing preload? Thanks!

Sprocket on one of the posts missing a couple teeth. Any suggestions on removing old sprocket? Thanks!

I Christophe I fitted the lower nut with 8 holes and the spring. An adjustment of 5 millimeters, for the 4 corner posts. But when I raise and lower the planer platform the tension is hard. it goes up and down but I have to force it to do it. What should I do to make the height crank easier to turn as I see in your video? Thank you very much for your help, From Quebec, Canada

Check to make sure there is no debris or wood dust on your ball scres first. If your ball screws are an uneven height that could cause the problem also

I'm stuck. Planer squeals when height raised, but quiet when lowering. - have already adjusted the height of 4 corners (without removing bottom screws by just pulling the chain against each sprocket). - Chain appears to have temporary slack when going from lowering to raising chasis but then tightens back up What do i do? - do i remove bottom chassis 6mm hex bolts, drop height and adjust? - do i need dry lube for vertical shafts? - is there a trick to getting the chain tensioned correctly - Is there something else i'm missing?

Try some silicone spray on the posts working them top to bottom.... I just went through mine after not being able to raise or lower the chassis......inside was packed with sawdust......in almost 20 years of owning it I have never had this happen.....Pull the top cover and see if it's loaded with sawdust....if it is clean as much out as you can then pull the cover......mine also squealed as the chassis reached the top but not on the way down.....after I cleaned and lubed the posts all is clean and quiet and works like new......

I bought this planer at home Depot online. I was very disappointed with the condition of the packaging. The box looked like it was just tossed around with no regards of care. When I opened the box, the cast aluminum base was cracked. I also discovered the depth adjustment crank is VERY HARD to raise and lower the cutter head. I hear a popping sound after turning the depth adjustment crank several rotations. Had anyone had this issue with a new out of the box DeWalt 735 planer?

I have not, and this sounds like you should return it for a new item.

Same problem as some have mentioned. Very time consuming trouble shooting,,,,,,,,ESPECIALLY for the price of this planer.

If I take my chain off, the main post with the wheel is still hard to turn. Any tips how to fix? Always has been really hard to raise and lower and trying to correct it. This is the only video that talks about adjusting this but I don’t understand most of the description.

Hey there I've got a 735 that wont turn up or down. I took it apart and the gears that the chain rides on wont spin. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Kevin

Have you cleaned the ball screws and re-assembled the backlash-free nuts as displayed in the video?
@CycleTuber10 ай бұрын
Check the chain for compacted sawdust and the teeth on the sprockets.....I just did this and used one of those stainless steel toothbrushes to clean every sprocket and chain link.....took hours to get it all cleaned up....silicone spray worked wonders on the posts..

Thanks for this video. My 735 is brand new (maybe 2 hrs. run time) I've noticed that there is play in the front left side. So when i feed in a board, it raises slightly on that corner. Is there a way to tighten the upper assembly? I took the two bolts out of the lower nut and tightened it one hole, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'm assuming i just tightened the spring tension. Thanks in advance for any help.
@christopherverkuilen83884 жыл бұрын
I'd definitely take it in for service under warranty if at all possible, this can be quite time consuming. Likely you'd want to increase preload by unscrewing the allen screws on the underside of the offending nut, rotate the lower half of that nut 2-3 holes clockwise, then replace the allen screws. If that doesn't work the post may be loose in the base and flipping it over and tightening the bolt on the bottom of the lead screw might help.

@@christopherverkuilen8388 thanks! I took it back to Lowes and exchanged it for a new one. That problem is resoved, but the new on is sniping. Any chance there is a way to remedy this problem?
@christopherverkuilen83884 жыл бұрын
@@gabedirmeyer692 a few things help: I apply slight upward pressure on the board as it's pulled into and ejected out of the planer. It helps negate gravity pulling the board down and using the roller as a fulcrum point to push the leading/trailing end into the cutter. Also - a board that is warped/twisted can cause this. Jointing the board or using a planer sled can help this. Lastly - use and adjust your infeed/outfeed tables. They're adjusted with eccentric screws to adjust height/angle. Alternatively, longer infeed/outfeed tables could be made and would be desirable. Hope this helps.

@@christopherverkuilen8388 cant really do that on a 16" long board. The last planer didnt snipe, and im frustrated at Dewalt for this. there is no adjustment that anyone knows about?
