My daughter is about where you are here in her “journey.” I can see how many questions you had, and when I see how far Dexter has come since then.. in your more recent videos… it makes me hopeful and happy. I see so many similarities between your stories n and my grandsons n, Aydin. Thank you so much for sharing your story and helping us.

Thank you for sharing this update! My son vocally stims a lot too and it can be a bit much sometimes. I've gotten used to it but my husband needs noise cancelling headphones because he finds it so irritating. I really appreciate your positivity and you sharing your story. It's very relatable to me and it's nice to know I'm not alone.

My daughter is 2 and preverbal. I totally know what you mean about yes and no because we are working towards that. Glad to know with work it happens. Sometimes I get impatient. Thanks hub

She will definitely get there! I remember having to physically move my son's head up and down to show him how to nod in the beginning because he couldn't mimic actions! Keep on trying. One day it will just click.

U are helping me so much understand and come to terms with my grandsons diagnosis. Well, he hadn't had the exact diagnosis yet but they soon will b coming to help him 3 days a week. He seems so similar to your son. You give us hope that we together can " do this". My daughter just had a new baby girl so its challenging for sure and we know. It will b in the future too. Thanks for staying so positive.

That's awesome to hear that he's made progress. When my son was still learning to speak we decided to go with sign language, which did help a lot (especially since his receptive language was normal but his expressive was far behind at that point). When he did finally speak he totally dropped it lol. Even at 7, my son has a hard time talking about his day and what he did when I wasn't around. I've really had to work with him and push him to get him past "I don't remember" (which was his go-to response when he didn't want to talk) and now even though he's still not the best at it, he will at least tell me the 2-3 most important things about his day. We found out that my son is gifted in math and spatial visual intelligence (although his reading is pretty normal for his age) so it's pretty cool that your son learned how to read so soon ^^ I wish you guys luck, and I hope he continues to keep making progress!

I’m worried about my son he’ll be 2 in June, he doesn’t point very much (he’s done it a lot these past few weeks though) or speak but he has a great big understanding of what you say, he interacts brilliantly just non verbally and he has a few words he says on and off. He has many other signs of asd. I’m looking into getting him privately diagnosed if his speech doesn’t improve, and to see you so positive about it is so uplifting because I’m still in the stage of anxiety about his future! Thankyou for uploading you’re a lovely mummy 💕

Oh bless you. Thank you for your kind comment. The early days are so worrying, but your son is already showing so much amazing potential. My son really struggled with interactions and had no words at 2. Diagnosis or not, I think we have to remember that children develop their own unique set of skills and challenges, completely on their own schedule. Some children are bound to do this outside of 'normal' timelines or have a different skills/difficulties profile to what is seen as 'typical'. It will all work out for you, I promise.

I just started getting worried about my son. He will be 2 April 27th. I overlooked so many things. My son knows the Planets by name, can recite the 12 months of the year and identify them. Same as 7 days a week. The ABCs. Numbers passed 30. He identifies the colors by words and colors. Knows the difference between a hexagon, pentagon and octagon. All these things I loved so much about him. I feel like he knows only bc it’s an error. It hit me like a ton of bricks when someone pointed it out to me. He’s turning 2 and doesn’t come or even look around when I call his name. He bounces his head all the time on the couch. He walks on his tippy toes. Doesn’t ever call out for me no matter how much he wants to come to me. He can’t seem to grasp Hi 5 or have any interest in kids at the playground. He is much lil Angel. Tons of cuddles and kisses. I don’t want that to go away. ( I never taught my son to read either he just did when id feel something a feeling to test him)

Oh bless you. I felt the same in the beginning. Your son is wonderful, and his beautifully unique brain wiring should definitely be celebrated. Please continue to love all these things about him - they're his strengths! He may develop more slowly in some areas or need extra support in them, but that's fine. We can't be good at everything right?! Society paints an awful picture of autism, but it's often nothing to fear. Google hyperlexia and join some positive support groups ;) It will be fine. I promise. You know he loves you and the rest will come in time and perhaps with a little extra support. My son has always been affectionate. That never changed and I don't think it ever will.

Charito Bostedt I know it’s hard. Especially when you see they are lacking in some areas. It is good not to judge children based on other children’s progress. It’s true all children are created differently and do things on their own time. Definitely get him to the Doctors and ask questions. Let them know ur concerns. My Son was diagnosed today.

Hi 👋 wanted to ask your advise on how you taught your little one to say yes . My son is 2.8 and has really good labeling skills, he got the concept of no but yes it’s harder, for example if I ask him do you want to eat ice cream he will say ice cream for yes and if he doesn’t want he will say no . The same for going to the park,, I will ask him do you want to go to the park, so he will say park if he wants to go and no if he doesn’t.... I will appreciate your input
@sajoidino4 жыл бұрын
Bana Bana when you ask him if he wants ice cream, start giving him answer for example: would you like to eat ice cream , yes or no and he will start using yes . I had the same problem and this worked for us.

It will get better and better! He will still be him, but he will develop. You will see every year how much progress he’s done every year!!! Mine had much worse receptive language at 3.5yo but was ok with labeling things of his interest (animals, numbers, letters, shapes) only started to have significant language progress at 5yo...now at almost 7 he sometimes surprises me with a spontaneous 3-4 words sentence. BUT if I say “Put this book on the table” he may struggle what to put and where... and only now he is able to answer “yes” and “no” with understanding

My son is turning 2 soon and I’m so worried about him. I stumbled upon this book recently on amazon “Gut and Psychology Syndrome: Natural Treatment for Autism, Dyspraxia, A.D.D., Dyslexia, A.D.H.D., Depression, Schizophrenia Unabridged” by natasha mcbride and wondering if that’s the answer. Have you heard of it...she has a practice somewhere in England I believe. I just started reading the book and haven’t started the GAPS diet. It would be hard as my son wouldn’t eat anything but some bread with apple juice.
