DEXTER Cast Panel - Steel City Con August 2022

Dexter actors James Remar, David Zayas, C.S. Lee, Erik King, and Sean Patrick Flanery gave a panel at Steel City Con August 2022 to talk about this amazing show, their experiences, and to answer fan questions.
James Remar played Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father and ghostly adviser in Dexter. He is also known for his roles in The Warriors, Black Lightning, Gotham, The Shannara Chronicles, State of Affairs, Wilfred, Django Unchained, Ben 10: Alien Force, Jericho, Justice League Unlimited, Third Watch, and many, many more.
David Zayas was Angel Batista in Dexter and the follow-up, Dexter: New Blood. He’s also known for FBI, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, Next, Deadly Class, Bloodline, Gotham, and many more.
C.S. Lee portrayed Vince Masuka in Dexter, but is also known for his roles in The Unborn, The Stepford Wives, True Detective, For All Mankind, Chicago Med, Power, Chuck, Law & Order, and many more.
Erik King was Sgt. James Doakes in Dexter, but is also known for Casualties of War, National Treasure, True Crime, The Good Fight, The Oath, Banshee, Oz, The District, Kindred: The Embraced, and more.
Sean Patrick Flannery was Jacob Elway in Dexter, but is also known for The Boondock Saints, Powder, Suicide Kings, The Boys, The Bay, Blackout, The Young and the Restless, and more.

There's a ton of missed opportunities on New Blood. But it would have been great to see Dexter cuffed and being led down a hallway just to walk by Bautista, and Angel with a hurt and confused look on his face can only utter one word..."Socio..."

Not only that, but we also missed out on seeing Angela and Batista discussing the bay harbor butcher case, because now we’ll never know if Doakes got his name cleared/ Dexter gets truly exposed or if they didn’t have the evidence to break the case back open. Writers really dropped the ball on tying up all the loose ends in that last episode.

Doakes was perfect as a character. He was a formidable opponent for dexter. I think he exited the show too soon and shouldnt have been killed off imo. They could have used him in the later seasons in various ways.

Obviously the first is my favorite and sometimes I skip season 8 cause it sucked but I love Jimmy Smits so 1-2-3 and 4 are my favs but 5 is fair 6 was good 7 was good first cpl episodes cause Deb found out but after 7-3 only thing i enjoyed was Hannah loved her and always had a huge crush on Deb

*Was a huge mistake killing Doakes off. King had an interesting idea similar to what they used with Miguel in Season 3, where he & Doakes actually become an unlikely duo, because they are more similar than either character would admit, Doakes shot an unarmed man because he knew he was a bad guy, been awhile since I saw the episode but the guy kept getting away with some heinous stuff & Doakes basically did what Dexter does but without the ritual.*

They should have kept Doakes for 3 or 4 seasons. Like season 2 with Miguel Prado and season 3 with Trinity. Season 4 with Doakes vs Bay Harbor butcher.

I can't remember off the top what season he was introduced in, but he was Debs boss after she left Miami Metro and he is the guy who is obsessed with catching Hanna McKay.... Anyways... Just finished the series.. so sad what happened last episode.. Which that could be dif.. best series in television for sure.. omg !!! so sad its over really =(.. I would rather see batista confront him and he telling everyone everything and going to prison and death sentence.. other than finishing like that.. F Son killed own father.. that ending was too forced.. sad. I could start watching the series again now just to have that feeling that everyone is together and alive again

You and a couple other people might not like them, but it doesn't make them bad or wrong... I'm am the type of person who cusses after every word I say, but as a father of young kids I have learned when and where to curse. I hate when people curse around children, that is a giant NO for me.. But this is a shownabout a serial killer!! There shouldn't be any kids around!!...
