Dexter's "needs" aren't wierd perverted stuff, it is his Desire to kill stuff. He became a exterminator so that he could legally kill animals and be helpful doing it. The reason happy fella wanted skid to get him a cat is so he could kill it and resist the urge to kill skid. Eventually Dexter couldn't handle not being able to commit murder and decided that it wasn't so bad killing children. *Lore*

In the Spooky Month 3 ARG, you can see that Dexter's soul got trapped into the doll. Dexter kills cats and the Happy Fella made Skid ask for a cat just so he could kill it Plus, the neatest but coolest detail. When Dexter was alive, the Happy Fella had normal eyes. While when Dexter died, the Happy Fella had the right eye like an empty circle, while the left eye is normal like a full circle. And those are the same eyes as Dexter. Also, talking about eyes, this weird anomaly on Dexter's eyes may be because of catarats, made by cats hitting his eyes while Dexter tried to kill them... Since... Catarats are common when something like a cut happens on the eye.

For a single frame before the scene changed one of the happy fellas’ eyes moved. Easy to miss, but there nonetheless

Both Bob and Dexter are serial killers, the only difference being that Dexter was able to legal suppress and satisfy his desire by killing rodents (and cats, which is less legal) It matters not why you take life, if you take pleasure in it you are a serial killer.

You’ll have to look into it yourself.
