For me the greatest tenor of all time!! Dex the Man!!!!!

when dexter plays it really feels like he's communicating with the audience; hes not just playing random notes, he's actually playing something meaningful and pleasing

My high school jazz band played this last semester and did a damn well good job at it. Glad I found this recording for a school project, especially since I was researching Gordon, not music

Kevin's cousin. Clearly the music gene runs in the Eubanks' family. Thanks for putting this video up. Legends need to be remembered!

People who don't understand what DG was speaking about will never get it. Life is one big jazz song. You live it, then you play it out on your instrument.

Fantastic video! Thank you very much for sharing! I think this not Rufus Reid. It could be David Eubanks.

@@jazzinreds My bad; 🤥Only one I really recognize is Dex from having seen him in the Village back in the 60's. Glad you also enjoy jazz artists. Are we jazz enthusiasts slowly dying out? (am 73)😥

David Eubanks e não o Rufus Reid no contra baixo acústico.

It's David Eubanks, God bless him, on bass. Not Rufus Reid (otherwise frequent as Dexter's bassist).

Holy shit, I know Dex usually rested behind the beat a bit but Jesus this video is something else! I have to say though, this doesn't feel like his usual deliberate faux-laziness. There's something almost unfocused about it in this particular instance. Can't say I'm a fan.

I've talked with Dexter many times. He is simply an artist. This is how artists communicate. We talk about the essence of things.... not the bottom lines of things. Just listen to the music.
@tubular20064 жыл бұрын
He definitely had a history with drugs booze etc, but also in his later years may have been affected by the disease he ultimately succumbed to, I believe it was throat or esophageal cancer. I notice that he sometimes fails to get his words out, his voice giving out on him. He was a national treasure, and one of the greatest artists of the century.

He sounds drunk, you can even hear it when he plays, he drags more as per usual.
