Hello Dexter, I hope you are well! My favorite birds! Once you have a semi permanent place for the birds is important. My birds were an indoor environment was their main roost, with big windows that gave them all day views, and covered at night. They wake up early, with the sun!.They love to be taught speech, and whisitles, and can easily have a repertoire that they memorize. Out door is a different lifestyle. They love the outdoors! You can not mix them with other birds. They do bite in trauma situations has you found out! Once you have hand tamed them, speech, and slow hand movements work the best! As a Cockatiel breeder , I would love to suggest you this is totally different species from Parakeet and African lovebirds . Dont give Sunflower seeds to cockatiel and reduce amount of suf flower seed aswell because Cockatiel chick cant digest these seeds when parents feed them . Best Diet for them is mixture of White millet , German millet , Red Millet , Canary seed . if you dont provide them soft food like mashed boiled eggs (without Egg shell) , Sweet corn , Overnight soaked black peas and Pulses , Mashed vegetable like Carrot , Broccoli, Brussels, capsicum and give them green leaves like Lettuce , Kale , Spinach ( not too much spinach ) they will not breed without soft food . And always put Spray millet in cage because there is alot of chances in cockatiel they leave Chicks if not get soft food properly, They need 40-50% humidity to hatch a egg . Hire someone who can handfed chicks when they will be 2-3 weeks old that will reduce parents stress and Increase Breeding Ratio . Give them 2 months rest after 3-4 breeding clutches . Handfed babies Have high demand then Parent raised . I wish all the best make sure about Nest Box size and Soft food 👍🏻

Hello Dexter. Here is Frank from Puerto Rico. I like to watch you channel constantly. I have been breeding love birds and cockatiels for 20 years. Now, I breed finches. Here are some comments regarding your birds. Some of your viewers (like Eric, Prabh, Expatin, Trevor) also provided good comments regarding breeding and diet for your birds. Love birds.... Have you tried palm tree leaves for the Love birds nest? Hang a 4 feet piece of palm tree branch inside the cage and see how the love birds use it to build their nests. They will cut pieces of leaves and place them on their wings to fly the pieces to their nest. It is the love bird natural material to build their nests. It is amazing how they do it, give it a try. Cockatiels... If you bring them home.. be aware that cockatiels can get very loud (1 pair not as bad, 4 pairs definitely will create some noise). Some people purchase them and after they find out how loud they are, they ended up getting rid of them. If you have neighbors, the noise might bother them. They like fresh air, placing them in a lonely room is not good for them. Cockatiels eat all kinds of veggies & fruits. Alternate their seeds diet with fruits (berries, melon, papaya, etc. every other day). A mixture of 75% pellets and 25% seeds is the mainstay of their diet. Feed them dark, leafy greens and other fresh veggies every other day (no more than 20% of their overall diet). They also like millet spray. 👀 Do not feed your birds avocados 👀!!! It give them toxicosis and will cause myocardial necrosis (damage their heart muscle). Provide the cockatiels the same size box you build for the love birds, just make the hole bigger. If you place them together they will fight for their nests. They are territorial when breeding. You can tame their babies if you hold them regularly when small. Another comment... it is not good to allow seeds to germinate inside the birds aviaries. The little plants that germinate will get the birds excrement on their leaves and if the bird eat them they will get sick. The African love bird and cocktail are slower in reproducing, but if you provide them privacy and a good diet including fruits and dry seeds not at same time but at different times you will get a good result. This is what I can share with you from my personal experience, they love to eat fruits and vegetables also and seeds so you give fruits and grams chickpeas in morning and seeds in afternoon. One time soaked food like chickpeas and some fruits like guava papaya and one time dry food like seeds

Great bird I usted breed them lutinos and white and gray I also used to hand feeding them when they are babies and those who got raise by hand you could let them out side with the cage open. I am happy for you dexter.

Good day sir Dex, I raised 2 beautiful cockatiels back since they were both babies. I hand fed them for a couple of weeks and also trained them to serenade some songs like "happy birthday" some Christmas songs and for fun i thought them the "wolf whistle" Everytime someone would come into my home they would start doing the wolf whistle. They learned how to tell if the things they bite is not my fingers or anyones finger. I would just put my hand inside their cage as a signal that they are about to go on top of their cage. I also let them out of their cages inside my home, to fly around their cage but i also taught them not to fly away from their cage only to the top. They are very gentle and a couple years of being a cockatiel owner, i adopted a very aggressive tiel and if you just cooperate with them and be patient and gain their trust they will allow you to let them walk up to your hand without biting your finger. If you catch them like a regular bird, they will try to bite you as you experienced. Looking forward to your breeds and maybe I can buy a couple from you Sir Dex!

Just put some coconut fronds I the aviary,,the lovebirds will strip them down and soak them in a water dish on the floor ,this adds humidity to the nest boxes.The lovebirds carry the frond strips to the nest box in their wings,,I had many years experience breeding these birds in different colours and varieties,,You must not mix the varieties in the same aviary ,they will breed infertile offspring

Maybe sir dexter some of your african lovebirds are nit fully matured or ready ti breed. Unlike parakeets albs takes up to 8 moths to 1 year old before they are ready to breed. But once they are become proven. They breed fast also like parakeets.
