This particular style is now exclusive to Zaha Hadid, though a lot of architects like myself would have loved to try doing similar. But for fear of being ridiculed being a second rate copycat, we'd not dare choose to take this path. Zaha Hadid is a legend and her works are always inspiring.

Oh, what a brave and beautiful design selection for this ancient Chinese capital. I had the pleasure visiting this magnificent city 20 years ago, a local proudly told me even his dog’s water bowl is 1000 year old. I retired and eager to visit this great city again and hope this culture center will be ready for my eyes. The combination of city’s four lane wide two thousand year old wall, the mixture of middle Asia and Arab influence from ancient and new Silk Road, the oldest and the only painted glassware in the world from Persia, the openness of Tang Dynasty culture, the genesis of most Korean and Japanese tradition, the unbelievable museums and this new modern building is a sight to behold. This is not what westerner stereotype of short skinny southern Chinese drinking tea, eating dim sum, this is the place with indigenous Han people who are tall, big and tough who drink hard liquor like Russian, eat lamb, beef, noodle, bread riding horse fighting Mongolian and Manchurian in the desert.

Zaha Hadid ..... she gets something from the BEYOND in her designs. Her projects have the touch of divinity. She bridges imagination and factuality so gracefully. Upcoming architects should learn the art of bridging their ideas and factuality from Zaha's designs. No doubt ...... the functionality is enhanced many folds. Her forms merge and melt in to the surroundings without demanding attention. A true architectural genius. Zahara Hadid and GRACE are synonymous.

Amazing! The video explains it perfectly! But I was wondering, does anyone knows which types of software do they use to achieve this?? I imagine it has to be a modelling software like Rhino combined with a video editing software like After Effects, right? Or there is a better way to handle this type of exploded axonometric and flying arrows? Perhaps 3DS Max can achieve all of that? I have never used 3DS, but I’ve heard some people that say it’s top notch. Would be awesome if an expert on this topic could throw some light on this type of architectural cinematics. Have a nice day! Thanks Dezeen.

the easiest way to do axonometric presentation would be importing the model into revit and having all the building outlines and other components be on a group or layer then displacing it the rest would then be done via video editing softwares such as Adobe suites etc. this is just a guess, im not really sure. but for me, this is the easiest way possible to do an exploded axonometric. I've never use Rhino so I don't know how the workflow looks like in that specific program but all I know is that big firms such as ZHA, BIG, Foster + Partners etc. has their own specific programs or softwares that they use to do such design workflows. One thing I know is the Frank Gehry Architects uses scale models and 3D scanners to generate virtual models for post processing or design reconstrcution, BIG uses Enscape as their primary animation software for presentation and I believe Rhino and Autodesk suites is the most popular architecture products used by the said firms.

Shame about the twelve lanes of traffic all around it. Doesn't seem like a walkable place at all. I've also noticed a trend about making oddly shaped libraries with oddly shaped walls randomly stacked with books, often up to unreachable heights. How does the functionality of that space compare to a regular library? How much of that expansive space is kind of wasted?

There's no chance this is sketchup. This workflow involves Rhinoceros or a similar program, illustrator , and the rendering engine could be Vray or Octane. The animations are after effects combined with rhinoceros animation editor. Keep in mind big firms usually have their own rendering software that produces an aesthetic that makes sure all their projects appear uniform.
