I appreciate his honesty and openness about the flaw and it helps me see his perspective that the art of it is more important to him than longevity. I'm sure he would prefer both, but if you've collaborated with people at all in life, you can imagine the craftsman who was hesitant to agree to making the harmonizer in the first place will probably be impossible to convince that he should change his materials. It probably won't be from stubbornness either. It sounds like the craftsman doesn't need the extra business and changing materials would likely change the function which might require a complete overhaul to remain true to the original artist's concept. In life there is give and take. If you don't want to forfeit longevity for this art, there are many traditional kettle options for $30 or even the electric Alessi kettle inspired by a woman's pleated dress, if their ad is any indication.

I have this exact kettle but it has a metal handle. I cant seem to find any other version with a metal handle, only a plastic handle. Do i have an original version?

The core of the handle is metal but it is wrapped in Plastic. Just check carefully and you will see it.
