Mistakes to Avoid in Disney World in 2025

My son lost a very special Disney hat when he was 10 that his older sister had given him to him. She had it from a trip we took when he was a baby and she was 14 and he wore it on every one of the many trips we took up to WDW over that year when we had seasonal passes. It was a rainy day and we could see it on the ground in a mud puddle under Goofy's Barnstormer when we got off the ride, but of course, nobody could get it for us until the ride shut down for the day. I think that was our last day for that visit and we had a four-hour ride home so coming back was not an option. We filled out the form at guest services on our way out of the park that night and about a week later got the hat back in the mail, freshly laundered and looking better than ever. It was a magical extension of our trip and makes me smile thinking about it 14 years later. He still has the hat, btw.

this is true, but their price of operations isn’t going to go down since they need to pay for construction and things. i believe it should be cheaper but they will still be spending the same if not more on operations in the next few years

Huge change - resort fees now will have to be clearly stated on price lists for hotels. Disney doesn't add any fee so only applies to Swan, Dolphin and Good Neighbor hotels. My boyfriend gets dizzy on rides that spin - had no problem with Guardians and Mission Space Green (I wasn't even going to try Orange myself) but Soarin got him messed up big time.

I haven’t been able to ride roller coasters since surgery in 2011. New or rethemed roller coasters are a zero for me. Why can’t they keep the steamboat on Rivers of America for the many people like me who can’t do thrill rides? I hope Muppets 3D will be moved to a new location near Rock n Rollercoaster.

Welp looks like 2025 is going to be the year of the construction walls across the parks. It was a fun one month from when the walls finally came down at Epcot before immediately going back up at Test Track, and now AK, MK and HS.....

Excited for the changes at Magic Kingdom. It’s the most popular park in the world with massive crowds but maintained many acres of unpopular yet space hogging old attractions. Hope WDW brings their A game to the updated portions of the park.

Speaking of avoiding mistakes… With lightning lanes- how much time do you recommend leaving between reservations (like if I get Peter Pan at 9:30, what’s the earliest I should schedule my next lightning lane)? If you have someone in your group who can’t ride a lot of the rides (like a 4 year old who is 38”), is it necessary/ worth getting them a lightning lane pass?

My phone fall out of my pocket either when I was getting on Slinky Dog Dash or when I was getting off Slinky Dog Dash and i didn't even notice it until a little while later, retraced my step and it was on Slinky Dog Dash close to the track but luckily and thankfully not on the track

I'm real fond of Dramamine's Less Drowsy product to prevent motion sickness product. I've recommended it as a "night before" dose for people who've demonstrated problems when flying in the back seat of little airplanes. So far, I've not had a problem on Cosmic Rewind, and certainly not on Mission Space, so I've not tried it myself, but it's something I know NASA's using now. The active ingredient is meclizine, and there are generic and other house-brands that might be cheaper than the Dramamine product.

Meclizine is available by prescription - don’t know if it’s OTC. i need it for winding bus and car rides in the “real world”, but not Disney World. My brother gets sick on roller coasters and the spinning teacups - whereas i love the tea cups. I just cannot understand the various ways you can get motion sickness, and differences between people.

Mission Space is fun but the g forces on the Orange part of the ride are pretty intense and it’s definitely not for anyone claustrophobic. It’s a for-real centrifuge just like you see pilots and astronauts use - plus some special effects.

No one will Ever be able to help me think destroying the rivers is a good thing. My home park is Six Flags Over Texas. And without those waters? It will be like here, where we have people being wheeled out with heat exhaustion. There will be no peaceful moments you can take without concrete and look for turtles in the water with your Grandma. Less immersion into another time. And it's 100% taking a part of what makes Disney special compared to six flags. It takes part of the heart. I do think they could do something different with Tom Sawyer, but that water is going to take part of what makes Disney special and turns it even more of a... theme park. Just a random theme park. But the most expensive one. And not even for anything good. Not even REAL Cars. Cars adjacent is best you can name it. And we already have multiple "driving a car" rides. I fail to see how that's a new evolution. It's a cheap fix that gets you nothing.

I agree with you 1,000%. I about got physically sick when i heard about removing the serene Rivers of America - the signature part of MK for me, other than Cinderella Castle. Depending on what’s going on during my May trip, I might skip MK and do a second day at Animal Kingdom, which i love deeply.

@ I am, actually, so upset about it! I agree with you. No one goes to Tom Sawyer's, but we ALL take a moment and look over that water, whether we are in line for HM or walking to Thunder. It feels like another place and time. Both past and future together and it actually hurts to think about it being gone for a fake Cars- not even Lightning!!! It will be like what they did at Epcot. It takes away from the ambience and the ambience is what makes Disney... Disney. Not Dollywood. Or six flags. It's a huge mistake! In fact? When we go in the Fall, we are doing a short trip. And it'll be Universal only. First time ever. 😬😬😬

@ exactly. I haven’t been on Tom Sawyer Island, but mostly because I’ve had a lifelong leg problem that just (Dec. 6) was corrected by surgery. I can’t do any of the rides at Universal because of my neck, so I’m returning to Disney - but mostly because i live for character greetings and Via Napoli pizza!

One time I lost my phone at a local convention (more then once actually) one time i realized it and i ran back to get it....and then one other time I had to back track and yes, eventually I did find it this time, but it took over a half hr. I was having a panic attack by the time I found it, and when I did find it, I broke down on a Yogibo....The people who kept it for me was nice enough to keep it behind the desk, so maybe that's why i didn't see it the first time, but I eventually did get it back and boy i cried...convention stress sounds alot like themepark stress...

Once again a reminder I will be just a bit early to see the new Zootopia attraction *sobs* Gotta admit adding Universal sounds tempting, but I don't really want to give up that many days of our once in a lifetime WDW trip, especially when it's that expensive, and it's another park to figure out accessibility for. Epic Universe sounds so amazing, though! Luckily there's plenty of time for us to decide, and to see if we could even afford it!

They are getting rid of “filler” attractions to replace with attractions they’ll charge extra to experience. You can expect those lightening lane prices to increase exponentially.

I will miss the Muppets show, but I am fine with them moving to the Rollercoaster. It's needed an update for a while. I do wish we were keeping both with a Muppet theme, but it is what it is.
