Thanks for this vid! With the help of it I could remove the door ”skin” and inspect the wires for the (broken) window mechanism in about 10 minutes flat. The best is that you show how to put it back! 3:46 When I do this there is no click. I work on front passenger side. After turning screw in all the way the plastic piece can be removed easily by hand, dont even need a spudger. What the hell ? Help ?

Mine too... Try to press you palm on the top part of the door handle the same time you open the door...it works with my mk5

Just remove my handles on my mk5 golf gti 2004 using this method. Only difference was I unscrewed the tx20 fully out and removed the end cap and door handle. No need to u screw and screw back In to remove.

I see T20 screwdriver in your other video but my door handle still not coming off. I release the cable and pushing handle towards the door opening but its not comng out.

The T20 is a torx, you need unscrew it completely and after that push on it

@@DFCGarage Yes it a T20 torx i used and not a screwdriver as i stated above. I can unscrew the bolt and tighten it no problem but handle will not come out. I gave up and have now found if i pull the small nub piece of the handle, it comes out even when bolt is tight/locked. Lucky i did not start on driver door. I have got original colour coded handles and just wanted to put them on. It looks so easy when you do it in the video but my handle is not coming out. I was working on front passenger door Golf mk5 year 2008.

@@dalemccarthy8834 Still not sorted. I have even shown to 2 mechanics and they scratching their heads too. I don't want to take door card or door skin off. Got matching shiny colour coded handles ready to fit but hopeless if I can't take the old ones off.

Ok so apparently in my golf 5 (2005) this method doesnt work. It used do come out normally (12 turns of screw ccw, and then pull back to remove, on driver door, but that method doesnt work on the front passenger apparently ...)

When I undo the screw the black plate still won’t come out. Tried levering it out with a screw driver but that seems to be pending the plastic not the hole plate. Thoughts?

Big mistake @ 3:20 you put the cable back to far. You won't be able to open the door from the inside or outside.

VW Golf Plus 2007. Takes 10 minutes to remove the skin and replace the lock. But spent 20 mins to put the F***** *** **** handle back. Why is that?
